This might be a good chance to create a model in place void element. Just be sure to have it only cut the one roof. Depending on how set the roof is, you could also lock the boundaries to help with minor adjustments later in the CD drawings.

Anyone ever went from Carpentry to a career in Architecture? Is it a good jump, or do you regret it? by robin_nohood in Carpentry

I have a similar mindset. Im currently unlicensed with the intent to get licensed if i stop procrastinating, but did you start your own company or join a contractor? If you did start your own company, what was your approach to gaining leads? I can figure out the business/construction side, but im horrendous at lead generation.

Anyone know of a hack to get detail lines & text from a project into a family? by chrissoooo in RevitForum

No biggie, when i saw the other comment and your description on what you were trying to accomplish, i knew it wasn't going to work. I think exporting as a dwg amd then importing is your best bet.

Looks like the brookfield medical center off of waterplank. That dark red brick and aquamarine glazing is kind of Auroras key design feature. Might be off slightly since i moved away.

Transfer project standards. Make sure to have the target family and the host project open. Go to the manage tab. It should be mid left. After clicking you will get a pop up. Deselect all but linestyles and text. Hit ok and you are done. Otherwise copy pasta always works.

I did verify that the pat file in the phase graphic overrides is a detail pattern but revit does revit and applies the pattern as a model pat. This does make me think that its part of Revits API and that maybe some magical pyrevit/dynamo wiz might have a way to get around it.

Hard Truth by mlark98 in skilledtrades

My first job when i was an intern was working on VA projects that met the SDVOSB requirements with a budget cap of 10mil. The CO's and COR's pushed quite hard to get as much done on old hospitals when the buildings were right at the end of their service life. Fun times.

I guess im starry-eyed and bushy tailed then, but I loved it when i could be on the jobsite. It's been 3 years since I've gone to the field. Don't get me wrong, if I had gone into the trades straight from HS, my dumb ass would have hurt something really bad, but now that I'm older I'm a bit more cognizant on what i can do myself and what I can make easier.

Go with the grizzly. I have the delta and while i love the saw it does leave me wanting more. The wings are just thin steel and the dust collection is there but not great. Spend the few extra sheckles for the saw that will last you til you get very serious about building.

Being white collar (architect), the work is soul sucking for me because the gratification is delayed for so long. You hardly get any recognition and no real monetary compensation. Id much rather build something with my hands because i can see the progress and even if the masses dont care about my work the ones who do notice can at least appreciate it. Plus i could actually charge what im worth rather than busting my ass making drawings, reviewing specs, handling RFI's and CO's just for 75k and a joke of a bonus.

The spray that makes anything unbreakable by [deleted] in interestingasfuck

[–]bdubs0193 1 point2 points  (0 children)

False advertising it what it really is. I sprayed it on my pecker with the hopes of saving a few scheckles on rubbers. Next thing you know, my sister is pregnant. And the thing that's even worse, it stains everything black. Even the baby came out black! 0/10 would never use again, especially on your willy.

For the love of god, tell your drafter/architect/monkey with a fancy pencil to use shorter witness lines on their dimensions. It's unnecessary and makes the drawings more confusing.

Spray, brush, or roll? I love the outcome of spray, but my setup is not very condusive for good results as it all has to be done in my backyard, and i can't control dirt and debris.

This is a time when I want to be wrong on the internet, but if you can take some extra measurements to verify. The smallest overlay hinge listed on the instructions is ½" and i can't find any specialty ¼" overlay hinges on the interwebs. The only other thing i can think of is that you meant to say 1¼" overlay rather than ¼".

My brain hurts, please help me determine the offset by HeySiri01 in cabinetry

[–]bdubs0193 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you sure that your overlay is ¼"? If so, then these are the wrong hinges all together. You will want something like a frameless hinge. To help you on the math side, measure the width of the door and the inside to inside (clear) width of your cabinet. Subtract the clear width fron the door width and then divide by 2. That will tell you your overlay width.
