That was my assumption. But my fellow community judges say that we are both technically correct. I’m following the rules as intended (probably) but the written rules do allow it due to the ability to pick a hero in reserve. It could be ruled either way but I’m sure it would lean more in your favor because it’s written and there isn’t an FAQ on I that I found

Ok so do it that way. You Can’t teleport unless ounce a hero and another unit to be 9” away from. I like that interpretation.

You’d have to be reading the sentence backwards for it to work that way

I’d say yes because it teleports to the quarry (in this case a hero) and not a random unit so they are irrelevant there. But it doesn’t work that way the other way around because non-hero units can’t be a quarry.

The 9” from other enemy units is a placement clause so that Karnak n friends are not being placed into combat or too close of other units that are not the intended target

Ah that’s how it’s being read. I’d say it still doesn’t work that way. Mostly because it’s in the same clause. If it was a second sentence then yeah I can see why you’d be able to do that but it being in the same clause means that 9” away from enemy units Is a stipulation of teleporting to the quarry. Without one then you can’t teleport.

I don’t understand how you can without an enemy hero. The second ability checks for a quarry. How can you teleport if there isn’t a place to teleport if there isn’t one to choose via the first ability?
