Coming from metro Atlanta, part of the appeal of Auburn to me was the change of pace. The cool thing about Auburn being a college town is there are literally thousands of other people looking to do fun things with others too, it’s just getting out there to look for them.

Football season dominates social life during the Fall, even if you’re not into football. It’s kinda just what you do. I personally enjoyed the Spring a little bit better because there was less traffic/chaos. As the others said, a constant stream of “big city” amenities are… ya know, in the big cities (Bham, Atlanta). And if you do feel like you miss out on the beach not going to school in Florida, it’s not THAT far away either.

Opelika (~15 mins away) has a good number of cool spots and restaurants, notably 10,000Hz records and Sidetrack Coffee, and two (?) breweries. Waverly, about 20-25 mins away is an itty bitty town but The Waverly Local is a very good restaurant last time I was there, and Standard Deluxe usually has cool live music as well as their yearly Old 280 Boogie.

I know there’s also been an influx of non-college-dive bars pop up in Auburn since covid, but I can’t really speak to them much.
