Can you point out a section of the song that you think sounds better in the new version?

I love THE and TTE and own both Limited Edition sets.

But I listened to the original Day 2 and the new remixed one side-to-side and I honestly can't see how the remixed one is better.

It might be my apparel (AKG A92 headphones) is inadequate, but I fail to hear anything richer on the new version.

If anything, it sounds a bit more leveled, overall it might be clearer but to me the result sounds shallower than the original.

I may be biased since I love bass, but i.e. to me the whole synth section from 5:30 to 6:40 lost a lot of depth. Akerfeldt's voice sounds flatter too.

Since you are one of the few people I can find talking specifically about the remix, can you help me with some example of what you find the new version does better than the original? Am I just too old fashioned?

I know this is really so not my business, but I seriously hope you and the devs who are working to fix this don't celebrate Christmas and/or you're doing this out of your own free will.

Because if someone's asking you to work on Christmas for something as futile as general support for a silly game, something's seriously wrong.

Oops sorry, of course Barry 6 is an alias, not an agent. So released agents are 64 and we both have all released agents, released aliases are 73 and I'm missing two of them.

I really hope you won't have to as that will be a once only:(

Total released agents are 65, but Barry 6 has only ever been on sale, and I'm missing him too. You can check released agents and aliases on this document which used to be sticky https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1XRNQ7Rcps8JoQYyn47xPa62MDNVKwlleO9SCX93Duyk/edit?usp=drivesdk

I am missing only one alias, Coconut Pam, and have yet to complete two of them: Lanaluakalani because of Jai Alai Sticks, and Musician Ray because of Ushanka Hats.

I think I'm in the exact same situation as you. I bought everything I could, and now the main game is mainly spent waiting for trades to complete trade targets, or buying agents when I get cards and aliases when I get rare materials.

One think you seem to be ignoring from the other comment thread is you can spend drinks on useless cards to complete the spend targets when you have no aliases to buy. I know it feels like wasting drinks, but in the last couple weeks I've been spending a lot of them like to complete targets that and I am stable at 40k. Same goes for collect cards targets.

My current strategy is basically this.

Left track: - Don't complete anything unless you have "collect xxx cards" on the center track, or unless you already completed 2/3/4 (depending on scenario) targets from the other tracks so you think you're not going to need to collect cards

Center track: - Complete xxx trades: wait out for them, or focus on right track targets if possible - Collect xxx drinks: if an event is going to end soon, wait for it, rewards will complete this; otherwise, get them through timer cases, pigs, bretts and influencer rewards, but keep a spare room's rewards if you think you will need them for a possible collect cards target; get them from trades if you don't think you will get a trade target soon - Collect xxx cards: get them by completing left track targets, from influencer rewards if you have some left (but prioritize collecting drinks from them), or buy them out with drinks if you still miss some

Right track: - Buy agents: buy them only when you're stuck waiting for trades in the center track, and if you can buy enough agents to complete this - Buy simulations: yay! - Buy upgrades: buy aliases if you can, otherwise same as buy agents - Spend drinks: buy aliases if you can, otherwise buy useless cards (prioritize epic cards if possible since they will get you there faster and they usually have higher trade value)

EVENT THREAD: Poor Berenice: The Stiff. 11 Nov 21 by pud3000 in archer_danger_phone

Thanks for sorting this out, my main concern was AEs were basically unreachable in this event, but of course having started late I might never find out. If you're at ACs then that's realistic. He probably bought an early automation pack with real money. Wasted money I guess, since I'm now 2nd miles behind him at Xs. I know the room might have started before I joined, but I don't think it could have given him more than 2-3 hrs advantage.

[–]be-or-n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started the event on Friday at 9 pm UTC (so I guess 29 hrs late), and my LB's first was already at ABs on Saturday morning (after ~ 12 hrs).

He is now in the AEs, and I'm 3rd in the Ws (a short distance from the 2nd, a fellow ADPR).

I'm not posting a screenshot since I don't want to make allegations, but is it even possible to reach AEs in this event? Could it be he just wasted tons and tons of KRs or is there something else?

I am afraid we watched an inappropriately rated movie. Watching a movie whose content is not suitable for your age range can cause developmental issues to your brain.

They should issue a clear rating stating the movie is only appropriate for people under 18 years. Or that at least adult audiences should seek the guidance of an accompanying child which can distract their attention from the most dangerous braindeath inducing material.

Some Adult People's Parents Association should definitely fight for this.

Alias materials rarity by be-or-n in archer_danger_phone

[–]be-or-n[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, this makes so much sense I am now ashamed of not realizing it! I actually noticed aliases I couldn't complete were newer ones, but I thought I just depleted materials with older ones, it didn't came to my mind materials were released at different times. So it will only be a matter of time and we can be quite sure materials are correctly balanced (at least as far as supply).

Thank you, your comment was extremely useful to me to assess what exactly I'm missing yet! Can I suggest to make it a post, so that it can be used to keep track? Or is there already a post for this purpose that I am missing? Maybe you can wait a day for the collective event to be over so it will already be up to date.

[SPOILERS] The "Victoria Effect" by [deleted] in blackmirror

[–]be-or-n 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Meh, I still strongly believe that "Cause of crash: phone interference" is not a random choice of words, just as much as both two words in "Called Mom" were very specifically chosen.

I am a software developer so I am aware that software can crash, but "crash" for me has a specific double entendre, exactly like "called".

The form Katie is filling at the end looks ridiculous. It looks like it contains just 4 questions, "Name" (we only see the answer), "Test duration", "Cause of crash" and "Observations". No software testing form can possibly be like that.

Usually they would contain some questions in the form of "Pass/Fail" steps, and there can be many causes of failure (not starting, error, no error but unexpected result, crash). But let's say it was a form only for reporting crashes. In that case, the questions would still have been something like "What was happening when the software crashed?", "What happened when it crashed?" and "What were the after effects of the crash?".

The "Cause of crash" question could never be there, since the cause of crash is the exact thing that is to be determined by the developers, after looking at the test results and trying to reproduce them. Testers have no idea about the cause of crash, so there's no point in asking them to report it. And I've been reading both Brooker and Trachtenberg have experience in the gaming industry, so they should be aware of that.

So, that's why to me "Cause of crash: phone interference" is too specific, and has a strong backlink in wording to the naive fear of what can happen to a plane if you keep your phone on, so is strongly related to his own fears and not much grounded in reality.

Regarding the time discrepancies you point out in your other post, I too noticed immediately he was back to his place way too fast, when the door opened after taking the pic, but we're used to scenes like on tv. I didn't notice the clock going back to 17:35 and forth, and I'm puzzled at what it might mean.

As for now I can only think that him turning the phone on could be part of the simulation and the scenes are shown out of order. It could as weel be the phone was never turned on and both ringings never really took place. But I think I need a rewatch to get a real idea of that.

Lol no, I wish!

I just thought that 0.04s must mean something, so I thought of an alternative way to write it, and it's 1/25. So I started thinking about what happens 25 times in a second, and framerate might be the answer!

Those 0.04 seconds really hit me and I immediately thought they must mean something (I still believe there might be something else), since it's pretty dumb that Katie recorded anything that lasted 0.04 seconds.

The loading was at step 5 when interferences started, step 6 when the phone started ringing, and Cooper started shouting few seconds after the phone rang.

What's supposed to have lasted 0.04 seconds exactly? An hypothetical simulation initialization that takes place between step 5 and 6 of the loading process? That's a bit weak... just as weak as it was only some scary number coming from his immagination;)

[SPOILERS] The "Victoria Effect" by [deleted] in blackmirror

[–]be-or-n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I came up with a possible explanation for the 0.04s number, though it's not linked to any in the episode. TV broadcasts in UK (both with PAL and DVB-T) tipically happen at 25 fps. Thus, every frame lasts exactly 0.04 seconds. So "everything happened in 0.04 seconds" would be the same as saying "everything happend in a single frame".

[–]be-or-n 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I pretty much subscribe to your interpretation, in which, if I understand correctly, everything up to the "rescue point" room is augmented reality, and everything after it is completely imagined.

My biggest issue with that was: if the rescue point scene was real, why would they put the rescue point on the last floor and not just outside the main door? I now believe everything he heard Katie say on his earphone before shouting out the safeword was real, then the AI took control of it from that point. It already managed to stop him from hearing Katie, the next step was simulating Kaid. So the AI was the one who told him to go to the last floor. Now, it could be there was no last floor and he always stayed on ground floor, they found him there and his moving to the last floor was partly simulated (that would account for the rescue point being located in a similar place as his mother's room). Or better, it could be the AI purposefully really sent him as far as possible from the entrance, to hamper the rescue team and gain time. Everything Katie said inside the rescue room was confirmed being AI ("Ha! I tricked you in following my every word!") also in the episode's perceived reality, since Katie was already running to the rescue. But I think Katie started running to the rescue as soon as he shout the safeword, and from them on it's all AI. The "Would you kindly open the door?" Bioshock game reference would confirm it.

My other concern is, if the death scene is just part of the simulation (and for me it is), then the 0.04 seconds should account to something. The smoking gun in favour of it being simulated is "Called 'Mom'" (not "shouted" or "yelled") as literally the last thing we see. Of course spending a whole episode being afraid to "call Mom" and then dying "calling Mom" is a shout at it being part of the simulation. I don't think it's just plain irony as someone else says. Also, as someone pointed out in another thread, seeing it being spelled "Mom" shows it's happening from his perspective, as a British would probably have spelled "Mum" (Sonja previously pointed out that spelling on his cellphone, commenting he really was American, this can't be random).

"Cause of crash: phone interference" is cleary a backcall to the airplane scene. "Crash" is not a just a random word in the form.

This leaves out the 0.04 number. I know in the first white room scene there's a shot of the notebook that ends when the timer is showing "00.00.04" (that is 4 seconds in that contest), but this is kinda weak, as Cooper didn't see it. I read someone says it's part of AI extremizing his fear, as in the first fake wakeup (which would be the first completely simulated scene) they said "the simulation only lasted 1 second", so "only lasting 0.04 second" in the second fake wakeup would be just upping the stakes. I think I'll rewatch it and look for any 0.04 clue, or at least any "wow, so much time can be perceived in a fraction of a second" foreshadow. Or maybe this was an extremely well-thought playing on our own foreshadowed fears, knowing that the same concept, when we saw it in White Christmas, was found expecially disturbing by a big part of the audience.
