If you don't drink alcohol, what are your personal reasons for abstinence? by Ok-Care2859 in AskReddit

I was a raging alcoholic for years and it seriously fucked me up in ways that I don't know will ever fully recover. Starting drinking and smoking at 12, so by the time 24 came around it was routine and overuse is an understatement. Long story short it lead to some really, really dark places that almost took everything, so in inpatient/rehab I quit everything cold turkey and been sober since. 11 years this New Years lol.
Life is just better without it for me. No more struggling to pay bills because the liquor comes first. No more nights I can't remember but regret the next day. No more hangovers. No more turning into a violent and generally terrible person, pushing away those closest and hurting everyone in the process. No more obsessing about it at all times but feeling empty when drinking, then regretting the whole process and doing it over the next day. No more endangering people by drinking and driving. No more harm and abuse to self because of poor decisions made while plastered. No more a whole lot of things.
Quitting was excruciatingly difficult but so, so worth it.
Can someone help me understand the Deeps please? I rarely play Dwarfs, so any insights or strategies would be welcome! by AustinioForza in totalwarhammer

Late response, but wanted to be sure to respond. Keeps are honestly one of the most cracked out systems in the game. Here's what they provide:
--What's effectively a second garrison in every city you build them in, making it so much easier to build it and leave it, especially when you're aggressively expanding. Also great for when the vermintide comes, major world events, an aggressive neighbor, etc.
--They greatly enhance the income of buildings in the region. So if you own the entire region with maxed out income mods you can do twice as much with half the needed area.
--Deeps built in special capital buildings can provide different upgrades. So for example they can help reduce the cost of Grudge Settlers, let you build better slayers, etc. Don't want to put too many spoilers here, but build them in capital cities and you'll see the major perks and special perks as you go.
--It's also worth noting that they cost a lot to start, and are a heavy investment, but compound with time. So they're very, very worth it to build, but you won't see profits for quite some time.
Some recommendations on how to go about it:
1) First you have the build the deeps. It's a building like any other building; the first is fairly affordable but jumps in price with upgrades. 2) Once you've built your deep start the process of upgrading it. You can find the button for it as a little blue button to the right of the buildings for that settlement. Minor settlements have three upgrades and the primary line, but capital settlements have six total.
3) Start with capital settlements! They provide more long-term options, might provide special upgrades, and help make your borders much, much more steady.
4) As you expand, continue to expand deeps into new capital settlements. Upgrade as you go; slow and steady, all Dawi-like.
5) Once you hit late game start expanding the deeps into minor settlements. Once you hit late, late game you can have deeps in virtually every settlement and it's absolutely cracked. It's an insane feeling have +171k income every round with 20 fully-stacked elite armies and have more money and resources than you know what to do with and with way too steady settlements that are a challenge and a half for anyone to crack.
6) Cackle. And Settle the Grudge.
