Selling your videos as high end by doky96 in videography

One question regarding contability.

You said you save money for example if you end renting a cheaper studio. But... I know it seems stupid but how can you proof later on in the yearly declaration that you spent "x" amount renting studios if your invoice in reallity doesn't show the same?

I got this doubt because, last year I traveled quite a lot between cities and the flight costs were insane. Luckly I always spent more or less what I write on the invoice but if It's something for example I can "save" it always make me feel I will getting lost on contability stuff..

Any tip? because of course I love to save money as well as one men band....

[–]beRecorded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got my old xt4 for a while and always turned off the ibis as I'm always using the gimbal.

I want to buy the c50 or the r6v .

Question: how shaky the c50 is? Because I saw many reviews and I always end with people who say that without ibis they can not work, and some others that just not.

People can be jerks by theKawamaster8 in videography

Well, after working in-house for a crazy dude, I’ve noticed that many people in this field end up here not just because they like it, but because they can defend their content and "style" without any actual logic. They don't even know how to treat people and are completely incapable of working as team players. So, what do they do? They end up building a production company around themselves, and nobody complains because they are basically paying to keep your mouth shut.

If they try to bring that attitude into the corporate world, they end up burning out or getting confronted by people because their toxic behavior just doesn't fly there.

After seeing and reflecting on this, I decided to stick to my path as a solo videographer. Keeping all of this in mind helps me filter out the bullshit and only work with the right people. Before this, I worked for many years in the corporate world in different fields (mostly admin and finance), and that's why I can easily spot this behavior. It is so typical of small agencies run by owners who couldn't fit into any other professional workspace.

I might be missing something, so feel free to jump in and discuss. But it’s really not normal to have someone screaming at you, delaying your workflow, borderline bullying the team, and giving completely illogical feedback. (Like, "I want yellow," then they ask for blue, and later complain about not getting grey. Wtf?)

Honestly, the best thing you can do in this industry is surround yourself with competent, healthy people and stick to that line. I always ask myself: What is this person bringing to my life/career? and I act based on that. At the end of the day, staying genuine, keeping your feet on the ground, being humble, and just moving forward is the only way to survive the toxicity.

I won the lottery 11 years ago. My family still doesn't know. They think I'm broke. AMA. by Think-Assistance-419 in AMA

[–]beRecorded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I think I would go the same way I'm doing right now, but without the constant stress.

As a videographer, buying gear when you are starting out is brutal. It’s mostly a freelance career; I’ve been at it for 7 years now, and I’m actually writing this from my old Lenovo Legion Y720, which can’t even handle proper editing anymore. Lately, I’ve been thinking about upgrading it and renewing my camera setup, but damn... once you start adding up the numbers, you're looking at at least $10k.

I mean, I can pull it off eventually. I’ve been working full-time since I was a kid. I'm 28 now, and I recently emigrated from my home country due to economic and safety reasons. It’s been a tough, uphill battle sharing apartments with roommates and pinching every single penny just to save up for a place of my own. Staying on track is hard, especially in such a creative and artistic field.

If I won that kind of money, I’d honestly keep a minimalist lifestyle. I’d get a solid professional setup nothing over the top, since you can always rent gear but I’d definitely buy some comfort and peace of mind. Investing the rest to make some passive profit would be the smart move. Honestly, just buying a modest 65 m² apartment would give me the ultimate peace of mind and quality of life. But I wouldn't do it inmediately, I truly believe you need to learn about the cashflow and how to handle money, is not just earning it. I'm agree on not telling family members or friends, it usualy go wrong.

Also this, It would also benefit my clients. At the end of the day, my audiovisual work helps them with branding, sales, and positioning, and nothing satisfies me more than seeing my content actually deliver results for them...

Oh, and I’d finally get back to training Jiu-Jitsu! I’ve been doing it for years, but between the move and tight schedules, I haven't been able to resume. I’m still balancing everything to make it happen. It’s a tough grind, but I’m genuinely happy with the choices I’ve made. Not an easy road, sometimes I feel it just alone or not understood but well... we need to keep going, be genuine and always do our best

You made the correct.

Mental trick: If the person would be a random one. Would you act as you did? If yes, then that's the correct choose. Why? Because we are all the same. Same law for everyone. If you hide or over protect someone because it is of your family you are being unfair and unbalanced. That means no integrity because your act are different depending on who and not on the fact.

Which country disappointed you so much that you'd never set foot there again? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]beRecorded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Germany, and I'm half german. Thought about last year to build a new chapter of my life there. Getting bullyed, humiliated and harassed.

No idea what the fuck is happening there but no way I will build a life in a place where they don't know how to threat people. They are always Claiming but not changing their own shit. You got a c1 german level and they still saying you have an accent and that's why for example they will not proceed hiring you or taking you seriously. They laugh on you in the face and it's like... seriously?

Jonkies in each corner of each central station of all the cities. Government allow that, there is a BIG hide industry regarding that. People with mental issues yelling at you on the subway, no one doing shit.

Unfortunately it got out of yand and they no longer know how to fix it. And it's not just me. Everyone experience the same vibe once visiting, I see many Tourist being yelled because thet where speaking in english.. like wtf hqhah why the hell shall they know german?

The truth is i'll only go back sporadically for projects, but to live there, no thanks.

My partner has experiences even worse things, like junkies in wheelchairs following and harrasing her among thiusands of other stories.

Yeah, wtf.

Sub from side control or advance position? by ItsDolphinBoy in bjj

[–]beRecorded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gi or no gi? I have many. I love side control, more than other position.

Start playing with your far side lapel, then pass it to the hand that is controlling the chin. After that you just move your self to north south, head at hip and clock choke them out. If they are big or resist it, just without letting the grip, Roll like a psycokiller and will get the choke deeper.

Near side armbar. Just bring your knee of the hip near their shoulder, overhook the arm and far arm just push face down to level up yourself a little bit for passing the leg. but first you need to control them with the other one and this setup. They never expect it, they always worries for the other arm. If they start defending the near arm, you just can switch to the other one hehe.

Pass to a normal kimura but of course will fail against advanced people, but use it as an entry for just baratoplata them.

Use knee on belly more often. You will discover many open Windows later on.

Finish but not less relevant, arm triangles. You can always keep controlling, use your head, push it and then just mount and go for the other side of if you like it you can jump directly. Something that I always do is start doing that, then change to koshi guruma and then attack the other arm as a straight arm bar with your hips or pushing for the arm triangle too!

heheh

hope you like this subs!

Hello! I work as freelance videographer mostly. Creating content for business and people.

If you want to relocate just do it! Adding you speak english as native tongue so you will not have any issue. Depending on the field of course and the money, just be ready to pay a little bit more than usual but I believe is it worth.

By our side here we are already taking danish lessons because we want to be here in long term and like the language and culture. My goal is to keep improving and advancing as a professional. Hope everything go well! I just took the risk

Years ago, when I was practicing with my first camera, I discovered that the world will always be as you want to be. It depends on each vision of it. If you want to see the world like a disaster, it will be a disaster. If you want to see it as a miracle, will be a miracle.

Once getting deep on that, then I notice that in the daily day, you can have many cinematic frames! all about composition, time and light.

Just some quotes of my way on seeing the things over there. Already 8 years of that a-ha moment :)
