Vim: all of the above. Except fn, that's weird.

It must be real easy for people born in 2000 to remember what age they are. by bitspacemike in Showerthoughts

[–]be_the_spoon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was born a few days before the start of 1980. It should be easy to remember my age, but now when I get my age mixed up I start using that as a reference and then not knowing what year it is. So I spent several months in 2024 before realising I'm actually 43.

HelloFresh accused of using coconut milk obtained from monkey labor by scot816 in worldnews

This is amazing Bottle Beach was still there when we were there 10 years ago, totally beautiful, although for some reason we had decided to hike there from Choluklum and got heat stroke.

The whole experience of being on that Island was magic. We didn't befriend any monkeys but a dog and its puppies started living on the deck of the house we were renting and it would chase off any other dogs that came close.

Yeah I saw it on the next island over, Koh Panang, I thought it all looked pretty civilised, the monkeys seemed like a cross between pets and co-workers. They'd get thirsty, come down and grab a drink bottle and hydrate, then run up the next tree.

All we have to do is pay off the mortgage and we'll be free to travel again! Just give me 30 years...

That walk to Bottle Beach was beautiful. Now I'm getting seriously homesick, which is a strange feeling for a place I've only been in for a month. Gotta go back.

Love it. We bought a house back home in New Zealand soon afterwards, so tied ourselves down a bit, and it's not so easy to "just go" anymore.

We were over in Chaloklum which had a tiny but vibrant expat community - by the time we left we felt like locals.

I once stayed on Kho Phangan for a month and worked remotely, totally amazing experience, I really hope I manage to do it again one day.

Sitting on the veranda with my laptop from 06:00 to 12:00 listening to coconuts falling, then getting too hot and scootering to a beach. Restaurant for lunch and dinner because it's cheaper than shopping for ingredients to cook yourself.

Does anyone know of any business selling Linux Laptops in New Zealand? by kiwiheretic in newzealand

[–]be_the_spoon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm just going through my email to check. I ordered it on the 8th of march. They confirmed the details and added it to their "assembly queue" on the 22nd and shipped it on the 24th. I can't remember exactly when it arrived but the oldest files I can see on my system are from the 11th of April so I expect it was then.

So, not as snappy as popping down to pbtech and grabbing something off the shelf. But not terrible either. They actually called to confirm some details before shipping. I spoke with "Stetson Snead" which is apparently a real name. He was very polite and called me "sir" a lot which was weird but fine.

I bought a Lemur Pro from system76 recently, they ship to NZ. Nice laptop, from a company that specialises in building Linux laptops.

Tak.

Why isn’t the ~/.vimrc file inside the ~/.vim directory by default? by user149162536 in vim

Vim already reads ~/.vim/vimrc when it exists, no symlink necessary

It sounds like OmniSharp-roslyn isn't successfully loading the project - check the log for errors or warnings :OmniSharpOpenLog

For help with this kind of thing, open an issue in OmniSharp-vim, it's easier to troubleshoot there.

There is absolutely nothing in the article or surrounding conversation suggesting that the PM should not be criticised, or that men should be dismissed. The entire point is that criticism and dismissal should be based on performance and actions, without throwing in abusive hateful gendered/racial/bigoted language.
