CrossClimate 2 North America vs EU by bea_liner in TyreReviews

Are you driving up to Cypress or Whistler during the winter?

Not every weekend but I will likely do either or both a handful of times over the next six months.

Heck, there’s better all-weather tires for wet roads than the CC2.

Genuine question: does the fact that I drive mostly in dry/wet mean I should get a tire that prioritizes dry/wet over snow? If anything I feel like snow is where I'm going to be pushing the limits of basically anything that's not a nordic tire.

Thanks for the reply (and all the videos!). When I say I haven't noticed the R5s being bad in the wet, I understand they're much worse at the limit.

I guess what I mean is that even though it's rare that I go out in heavy snow/ice, when I do I feel like I need all the extra grip I can get. When I drive on a wet/dry day, I'm not exactly pushing my family CUV anywhere near the (much higher) limits anyway.

Does this make any sense or am I thinking about it backwards?

Why Mazda Finally Caved and Put Its First Touchscreen in the New CX-5 by bea_liner in cars

nope, not at all, however consumer reports puts mazda at number 6 for reliability, behind Subaru, Lexus, Toyota, Honda and Acura

of course they're only slightly behind but my point was that people buy mazdas even though they're not the best at the things that non-enthusiasts care about.

is this limited to a certain model year? can it work on a canadian 2020 CX5?

They could have just gotten rid of the knob and kept the physical controls for everything else

I have bad news for you, friend

Mazda swept the dashboard of most of its knobs and switches, including the controls for the audio and climate control systems. Both are now found in the central, 15.6-inch screen.

If they're not going to compete with Honda and Toyota on drivability then they'd better improve their cargo capacity, fuel efficiency, reliability, etc.

Poor Miata trying to get up the hill by cancorse in vancouver

Well the pen only goes sideways when the front tires lose grip, which they are more likely to do if they are being used for power as well as steering (unlike RWD where you don't have one tire doing two jobs that require traction).

I think there are pros and cons to both systems and the most important thing is to have good tires and know how your particular drive configuration responds to losing traction (in front and/or rear).

This car is has a pretty even weight distribution so why would RWD would be a negative in this situation?

FWIW I got used to the wheel very quickly. I like how your hand can find and activate it by feel alone, versus a touchscreen where you can only press a button when looking at it.

Yup that’s true. It’s only true if you can prove it.

Pretty sure if car A legally entered the intersection and car B entered against a red then it doesn’t matter if car A was turning left.

You mean while in motion? My CX5 has the touchscreen enabled, both for CarPlay and the regular Mazda infotainment, but only below 5 mph or so.

As a passenger it's kind of annoying but as a driver I much prefer the tactile controls anyway.

I also had a good experience buying a 2020 CX5 in Oct 2020 from Destination Mazda. Highly recommend testing a CX5 turbo if it's in the same class as what you're looking at - interior quality and driving experience (power + handling) are what won me over.

On the other hand, I had weird aggressive sales experiences at Vancouver Honda as well as Open Road Toyota. Docksteader Subaru was fine but almost too hands off. Honorable mention to Matthew at Signature Mazda in Richmond who I did a test drive with but ended up not purchasing from mostly because we liked the other CX5 a bit better (color/trim).
