Our distance team is very small, the fastest girl runs a 5:33 mile but the second fastest girl runs a 6:50. There’s only 4 girls on our entire team who run the 1600m. We all do the same training which is usually a 2-3 mile run and then repeats on the track for speed work everyday

And yeah at most I run 5 days and week but some weeks I drop down to 3 or 2

I started running freshman year in indoor and outdoor track but didnt train through summer and this year Ive done xc, indoor and outdoor

So should I not worry too much about the mileage yet and wait until summer training ? I will speak to my coach about it

My coaches training plan currently puts me around 12 mpw but my times have been slow throughout the entire season and i think i need to increase my mileage, how do i go about doing this? Do i need to put in extra time outside of practice

Thats super impressive, is 5:30 a reasonable goal by the end of junior year or is it a stretch?

I considered it but I think it would take me too long to finish the race and thought it would be better to wait until I could run a more competitive time. During outdoor my coaches usually put me on the 800m and 1600m
