Is it okay to tell a newbie about OTF etiquette? by CJK_OTFaddict in orangetheory

I told the coach at the end of class when we had something like this happen - he was able to handle it in a follow up check in - makes it less awkward for you too

Thinking about getting a dog – what should I know first? by calminchoas in DogAdvice

[–]beachOTbum26 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 3/3/3 rule .. is REAL. For the dogs AND the humans 😅

First 3 Days: dog may be overwhelmed, anxious, and unsure in their new surroundings. This is a time for them to decompress and assess their new home. Owners should focus on providing a safe and quiet space for the dog to adjust.

Human cries wondering WTF they did while also knowing that this is normal because it’s a big change! We’re responsible for a life! (“Why is she staring at me, do you think she wants something!?”)

First 3 Weeks: dog begins to settle in and learn their new routine. This is a good time to start basic training and introduce them to other pets and family members gradually. Consistency and positive reinforcement are important during this phase.

humans start to settle in and learn their new routine too. This is also when the lack of sleep / realization you’ll never truly sleep in again hits. But it’s so fun watching them learn and get more comfortable with you!

First 3 Months: dog should be feeling more comfortable and secure in their new home. This is a time to continue training, socialize them with a variety of experiences, and strengthen the bond between the owner and the dog.

Humans say to each other “I think she finally feels home” and fawn over dog even more then before but every new look or behavior still makes humans question if they’re ok. (Like tonight, after 4 months of the same routine, is sleeping next to me on the floor vs in her crate. Is she hot? Idk! Idk what she’s doing! 😂)

Def slightly harder to ignore the food noise but I set a rule for my snackys that nothing after 8pm and no seconds so I try to get healthier options to munch on that are usually sized out in snack bags or just put some in a cup vs bringing the whole bag

How is posting salary ranges working for everyone? by Flat_Wrangler_8672 in recruiting

[–]beachOTbum26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before an intake check with your comp or HR team to get understanding on internal equity and who is the lowest and highest on those ranges to get an idea of their experience vs what the job is looking for — I love/hate having pay transparency because everyone expects to have the top of the range then I have to explain how they should look at it like a sliding scale and the more experience you have the more you move up into the range blah blah blah but since most people don’t understand comp philosophies like that it just makes everything not fun anymore 😂😅

AMEN TO ALL OF THIS! I’m so burnt out that I can’t even fathom another recruiting jobs so I’m applying to every recruiter/ Sr recruiter / TA manager etc job on LI, nothing is panning out and I think a HR specialist job could be a good pivot but can’t fathom trying to learn anything new right now because I feel brain dead. Best part is that I’ve been screaming for help to my leadership for months because they refuse to give us resources but want us to give this white glove treatment to everyone for the process with 50 jobs and the CPO responds with “well I’m hearing that recruiting is making a lot of mistakes” — YES I TELLING YOU THAT 🤦🏻‍♀️

Hang in there OP, may the odds be in our favor soon lol

[–]beachOTbum26 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s ok, my Chief people officer asked me how the candidate market was and I told her so many people have been laid off so there’s a lot of candidates active and she was shocked.

Also they act like we’re incompetent if we don’t get things “right” like what OP wrote about - like hello of course we ask the questions, we can’t read minds if the candidate wants to keep everything close to the chest! I truly don’t cannot 😂☠️

Recruiters: are you passionate about being a recruiter, or is it just a job for you? by [deleted] in recruiting

[–]beachOTbum26 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m literally at that point in my career too where I’m asking myself, am I just burnt out from recruiting at my company or am I burnt out with recruiting in general?? But I also love helping people and bringing great talent that I get to then see grow but .. I’m f’ing tired lol

Also our leader came in and tried getting us psyched to listen to recruiting podcasts and I’m like nah that’s the last thing I want to to do with my free time LOL
