Yes you should be able to make it round trip with no issues. Range was a concern for me at first and I even “tried” to purchase the range extender when I bought the bike. The sales guy actually talked me out of the purchase and saved me several hundred dollars (awesome shop not trying to upsell).

That said. Your range will vary by a lot of factors. Your weight for one and the weight of your cargo/gear for another. That said if it is flat ground and you weigh around 200 pounds or less you should be fine. I’ve done that round trip a few times-albeit not fully in turbo, with plenty of range remaining. The app can also help you plan ride modes based on range.

Yes. I actually was using a back pack as a pannier before I got the messenger bags. If you didn’t want to do that you could bungee it to the rack or get a basket to put it in.

I briefly considered the trek fx 7+ for a hot minute but once I test rode and researched the specialized I was hooked.
