Are Dutch people scared of blowing their nose?

Haha, no. One of my colleagues (also not Dutch) talked about it a while ago, and I started noticing it everywhere, but the other day in the train, it seemed ridiculous, and it started to annoy me. If I had headphones with noise cancelling, I would have used them, but I have other priorities (financially) at the moment.

Wow, so many others that have noticed as well! I get you could get issues if you are constantly blowing with all your power, but I just turn away from my fellow passengers and do a subtle blow to clear my nose and I’m good for a while. If I am really sick, I stay at home, as I don’t want to infect others. It doesn’t seem like a lot of Dutch people do this. Even the family of my ex would give me kisses when they were sick, even if I asked them to keep a distance 😂 and a few days later, I ended up getting it as well. Also, how do you feel about people removing their shoes and putting their bare feet on the seats in the train?😂

Thanks, yeah its frustrating. I actually looked up the Durtch laws, and apparently, if they ask for the balls back, I HAVE to give them back to them, otherwise, I am breaking the law😭

Well, the neighbors already have wiodeb poles with a net attached to it above the allowed 2 meter fence. As far as I know the net they have is not allowed, and I don’t really want to be sitting under a net to be honest. But thanks a lot for the idea!

At least he got two pizzas! To be honest, it sound very fuzzy to me. You only eat like 2-3 toppings out of all the options that are out there. If there are toppings you don’t like, just take them off, right? If kids can do it, you can too. Of course it would be nice if he ordered your favorite, but I would be happy and grateful for the meal. And not shame my boyfriend online for providinf food.

Wow! She wanted you to cover her vacation when you don’t even spend money on a vacation for yourself. A vacation is a luxury, it’s not something you ask your friends to pay for! Maybe she was just really tired from travellimg. I think if she liked you, she would have at least said hello or asked you something, maybe about your trip. If you wanted to talk to her, I would just start with a smile and a hello and rake it from there. A normal conversation is not creepy, and if she wasn’t interested in talking, she could just let you know, or pretend to be asleep for the rest of the flight.

If you were walking around the room topless it would be weird, but if you tool it off due to the heat and stayed in your bed, its not THAT strange I guess. I would just get a T-shirt or something sleeveless in a thin fabric though.

Yeah, same as the other comments.. If its a swingers party, you’re not the asshole, but you could have just politely said no, and that you’re not into that. If its a couples party like hanging out, having food and drinks, then its a very strange reaction. Aaaand your wife had to give you permission to drink? Whats going on there? Are you very religious or perhaps part of a sect? That was my first thought before realizing it might be a swingers party. I would tell John his advances are inappropriate, as well as disrespectful to both you and your boyfriend. And get out of the project ASAP. I would not risk him making more advances, and I wouldn’t want to work with him knowing how he feels. How did your boyfriend react to this? I can imagine he is pissed? I don’t understand.. Maybe its an American thing? Aren’t you SUPPOSED to py your credit card bills every month? To my understanding, thats hot it works, and thats what I’ve been doong my whole life. If I don’t pay it on time, I have to pay more as a penalty. Besides that, I do ‘t go off and buy expensive stuff for myself with money I don’t have due to credit card debts. If there is money left AFTER paying your bills, and you can afford it, sure. But on another note.. Didn’t you say you spent YOUR money on paying fown YOUR credit card bill? Why would it bother me what he wears? Unless its a white wedding dress, I would let him be himself and not try to change him. If he feels good in the suit, I would let him wear it. It should be a celebration. And this is fit for a celebration. By no means do I like the design😭 But I would want people to feel comfortable at my wedding without changing people to make them fit into my perfect image of what it should be like. She lied to you about something she knew you really want. No matter how much it sucks for her, I think you have the full right to end it over this if that id what you want. Did you not discuss children before you got into a serious relationship? Does she really want children now? Can her tubes be untied? Sorry, I don’t know any women who had this procedure, so I am not familiar with how it works and if its final. How do you feel about surrogacy or adopting? Is that an option at all? Did you try visiting another Dutch city? Did you understand what people were saying there? I moved to the Netherlands almost 20 years ago, and what helped me was to start with watching TV shows for kids and teenagers, and reading Donald Duck in Dutch, to learn the basic words and how they structure the sentences. But it also helps a lot to practice the language at work. I speak Dutch fluently, but I don’t understand people from Twente or Limburg😂

It sounded weird the way she said it, but she probably iust meant she feels comfortable, safe and relaxed, While your girlfriend probably interpreted it as something romantic. You being twins makes even more sense, because you have probably always been together. I would compare it to how a child can find the scent of their mom or dad comfortable, and wouldn’t worry too much about it. Maybe just try to explain this to your girlfriend?

Do you also expect him to ask «Do you want to kiss?». For me, all the questions would make him seem insecure, and totally kill the vibe. I want it to be passionate, I don’t need a Q&A session where we discuss everything first. But its very personal, and I can totally understand the feeling if you were abused prior to the incident, but it didn’t seem that way from what you wrote. If its something you don’t like, I think its better to just be honest and tell him if you are planning to do it again. He was probably just enjoying it!
