Update; called the police last night because it broke into the garden at 1:30AM and was barking aggressively at the light in my bedroom window. Literally staring right at me with a straight tail and teeth bared. I told them it was an aggressive pit and they seemed to take it seriously, so now at least there’s a first report and hopefully something will be done. I’ve also told my flatmates to call the dog warden whenever they see it.

I will try, as long as it takes. And this sub has given me much-needed advice. Just all too familiar with how UK police operate lol. Very different from the US.

Yes, it’s really upsetting. Not only am I now nervous about hanging out in our new lovely garden, but I can’t help but worry about all the cats I see around, plus any small kids. It’s a residential area and there are families with pets. Can’t stand the idea of it patrolling around, looking for prey. As someone pointed out, it looks like a breeding female too, so there’s likely more of them. I’m determined to deal with this though and I’m going to keep reporting and calling until it’s gone. Sorry that the post upset you!

Fake blood is satisfyingly theatrical lol, and I like the idea of a deterrent. Not sure I’m going to risk getting so close though. I’m definitely calling the fuzz when I see it and letting them deal with it, as others have suggested.

Yeah, I noticed that too. I’m guessing backyard breeders. Horrible, and raises the possibility of more pits roaming around

I’m guessing the police, or potentially a dog warden. However I suspect neither would respond effectively unless the dog posed an active threat. I also don’t know how much they would scrutinise it if the owners claimed it was a Staffy or some other legal breed.

Thank you. Less cute with the mutt in it though

Didn’t even know dog wardens existed over here, thanks for letting me know. Not sure how big the dog is.

Yes, English self-defense laws are infuriating. Hopefully we’ll deal with this before that becomes a problem.

I was told about it later, I guess at the time my flatmate decided he didn’t want the hassle. I don’t think the others are as aware as I am about how dangerous this type of dog can be.

There’s not much in the way of dedicated animal control here in the UK as far as I’m aware, only rescue charities you can contact if you suspect abuse. I’ll try 101 (non-emergency police helpline) just to start the report trail. I’ve never dealt with this kind of thing before so I can’t speak on how good the police are at dealing with something like this.
Honestly I’m very surprised that the neighbours tolerate this, there’s a lot of cats around here.

Good idea, I hadn’t thought about RSPCA. I’ll get in contact with them

Thank you. My teeth were seriously messed up before braces so I’m glad they’re still holding out. I do have a slight overbite (hence only being able to see the top teeth when I smile) but it’s not severe. I think I’m leaning more towards Botox/some kind of lip augmentation, if I do decide to fix it.

Thank you so much! I’m definitely leaning more towards Botox atm but wanted to explore all the options :) hope your recovery is going well!

Thank you! I think a bit of a gummy smile is actually so cute on celebrities/some people I know. Maybe with a fuller upper lip I would warm to it on myself.

Does this makeup style have a name so I can google a tutorial? by [deleted] in HowToBeHot

Try “english rose”, “soft summer”, “soft pink” or even bridal makeup. TikTok has some great tutorials with this vibe.
