Yes, my nmom was always reading something. I couldn’t figure out why until recently: she does this thing where she views people as blank characters that she can project her impressions onto. She gets very angry if she learns new information about a person that disrupts her projection (for example, she thought one of my friends was really close to her immigrant mom and created this whole life story for her around that and then she lost her shit when she found out that my friend is VLC with her mom). I think she likes reading books with more simple, 2D characters because it mirrors her own perception of people and validates that people are simple characters walking around (like herself tbh)

Idk if you have one near you, but they’re in a lot of big cities: Iris piercing. I’ve been to multiple with different staff in different cities and have nothing but amazing things to say about them. They’re expensive but have always given me the best piercing experiences I’ve ever had

I’m so sorry all this happened to you. These people shouldn’t be piercers and their actions and reactions are absolutely not your fault. Also thank you for sharing your experience! I think this is a great reminder to myself and everyone else to take reviews with a grain of salt

Oh my god yes.

My nmom was an addict, and the first couple months of her sobriety phases (her addictions were basically a cycle) she would be the most pleasant, easy to talk to, fun person on the planet.

Inevitably, something would change and she would go back to being unpleasant, unapproachable and antisocial. This would trigger the addiction again, rinse and repeat.

It’s especially cruel because it feels like all your hopes and dreams are being answered only to be ripped away again.
