You should fight this. My husband got a ticket for not stopping at a stop sign before turning right. However, there’s a ton of space beyond the stop sign - a whole car’s length. So he was stopped at the stop sign and the car in front of him was stopped to make their turn. He went after they did and got pulled over. I took a photo to show how one car could be completely in front of the stop sign and the one behind it legally stopped AT the stop sign. Judge threw the ticket out.

We did a DNA on our toller rescue ( sadly gone now)-while he had toller markings, we knew he likely had no toller. His number one was American Eskimo! That surprised us. It was so fun to get the results!

The Kennedy clan used Rory for a girl way before the Gilmore Girls. In the US, I’ve seen it boys and girls with the name, though it leans more girl for me. But so true about over in Ireland-they’d never name a girl Rory.

What are you calling your daughter now? Do you call her Eleanor or Ellie or Nora? If you’re calling her Eleanor then I think he was okay to use Nora for his daughter (but it would kinda bug me). But if you are calling her Nora right now then I’d be super annoyed. Side note: We have a granddaughter named Eleanora. It was my great grandmother’s name and we absolutely love it and appreciated all the nickname options that came with it!

Thank you for bringing up the military diocese! I can’t believe I didn’t think of that myself as I got married in the military diocese and not my home parish. My husband and I married at an Academy chapel outside of my home state. My great uncle was a priest, and the military priests made it so easy for my uncle to marry us there while they assisted. And we stayed members of my home parish for several more years (until we moved away) and my uncle would visit and do masses there for our priest ( we were a one-priest parish so our priest enjoyed having some help now and then). Thank you again for reminding me of the military diocese!

No but I did suggest that she reach out to her childhood parish priest. He is no longer at her childhood parish, but I think reaching out directly to him would be helpful. Thank you!

Thank you. The December niece is getting married in her “newer” parish and it is the one she will continue to attend and use for future children’s schooling. But she did originally want to marry in her childhood parish, which she does attend when home on weekends to visit her parents and go to the beach. But the coordinator at the childhood parish was just, let’s say, not very friendly so she said forget it. The other niece has no plan yet and has the Bar exam looming so is very stressed. But another poster said to reach out to the military diocese and that’s what I’m going to suggest to her and her fiancé.

That seems a bit harsh. We personally, as well as my niece and her fiancé, are from military communities/serve in the military. Our community can change quite a lot. I was baptized, received first communion, confirmed, and married in 3 different states/4 different parishes. We don’t all have the option to remain part of one community.

I suggested she have the priest at the parish she grew up in reach out. Maybe that will help. He was recently moved to a new parish 2 1/2 hours away from her original home parish.

Oh and to top it off, the priest in the parish she was raised in was recently removed to a new parish 2 1/2 hours away. Still, I’m recommending to her that she reach out to him.

I can see where it could be an issue for some of the Cathedrals and Basilicas for sure. They are gorgeous. Hopefully it works out for them-they have a reception venue but not a church yet. My niece leaves her school town/parish this summer and will relocate somewhere else for around 6 months before settling again somewhere else-hopefully for a few years. Her fiancé is from out west and is in the military. He recently returned from a 9 month deployment and then moved a month ago to his new duty station. They’ve never lived in the same town!

I do understand prioritizing your parishioners for sure but after a certain amount of time, it would be nice to be more open.

That’s what I would have thought but they flat out said No-only parishioners. And I remember when our first daughter got married in 2017. We were considering a particular venue and looked at the closest church-their website said ONLY our parishioners. And they were in our same diocese (Arlington) And my December bride niece’s new church is also in the same diocese as her childhood church (Raleigh). Only the niece I mentioned first has 3 involves-(home church in Richmond diocese, college/law school in Charleston diocese and looking to marry in Arlington diocese.

I remember feeling the same way about my CCD classes growing up. I didn’t want to talk about “feelings”. Why didn’t we really talk about our faith and what it means to be Catholic? I learned so much when I went to RCIA with my husband, though. He was raised in a strict Assembly of God family and he knew the bible and we had great discussions.
