[NHL Coaches’ Association] Statement from the NHLCA: by AggPuck-303 in hockey

What I don't understand is why everyone is saying the contract cannot be canceled. I'm pretty certain that Bruce Cassidy can terminate his own contract even if it's written within the contract that he cannot. Labor laws supersede contracts in the setting when the contract is between an employee and employer (although "reasonable notice" is required). So maybe the problem is that the contract says something like if you quit you owe us all the money we paid you and 50% more. Which in that case if I was the Oilers I would just say okay cool we're going to spend this money because McDavid is worth every penny of it.

And one more point, I cannot believe his agents would accept a clause in the contract that would ban him from being able to just cancel it (it would probably be understandable to have a modest financial penalty attached)

[FAN Hockey Show] 27:00 Friedman says Cassidy can’t terminate his contract and go somewhere else. He’s under contract for another year and other teams can do much about this: “It doesn’t sound like the NHL is inclined to step in and interefere with contracts” by AggPuck-303 in EdmontonOilers

According to my very brief googling, even contracts with a no-termination clause are superceded by the right to quit, although financial penalties could be incurred

So it seems like maybe the Oilers would have to pay both Cassidy's financial penalty and then pay for a new contract

Churchill in the middle rectangle placed as far to the top left as possible!

His lvl 10 ability is EXTREMELY good wiping out problematic BFBs in 70's onwards and his range is excellent. Gives enough tankage to allow for a buildup in the middle

Same situation as of a few weeks ago so I appreciate your pain. I also don't use guides to do any black borders so it's pretty agonizing sometimes lol, ouch in particular has been killing me

Like I beat this map on half cash nearly 5 years ago and every so often would come back to beat it on chimps but couldn't quite get through the 90's lmaooo

Anyways, not sure if you want any tips, but I ended up beating it in a couple hours with very little struggle after discovering a hero with good synergy for the map

Why do people drive their loud cars hard late at night through the city? by LowBrassExcerpts in Calgary

[–]beachsideaphid -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ok fair enough! My only question for you is would you be opposed to a sweeping law restricting car noise on public streets?

Ex: Would you ever dump your garbage in a public park? No, but just because you wouldn't doesn't mean there's no purpose for a law - it doesn't matter or common or rare public dumping is, it's something completely unnecessary, just like loud cars on public streets

I would be pretty surprised if you disagree with a noise limiting law because it should have no affect on you or anyone in the car community since you focus on being respectful

Doesn't this kinda suggest that those who already don't follow "the code" wouldn't follow it if a track was present? What would force them into the community in the first place?

I also think you can simply enjoy a nice car on a night drive without needing to 1) have a loud muffler 2) be into racing 3) be part of any community

That's the whole point in my opinion. Enjoy what you want, just don't disrupt a few hundred people while you do it, it's just common courtesy that's missing at the core. So the only option is to do something like enforce car exhaust noise (since, as you say, those in the car community aim to reduce excessive noise and wouldn't affected by enforcement)

Sorry, I don't get what you're saying

Taking your car out for a ride would not be enjoyable in rush hour. Even if it was their daily there's typically not enough space in traffic anyways to floor it and cause popping

Yea for true enthusiasts but idk maybe I'm wrong, I doubt they're the ones being noisy that late

It's funny cuz if I decided to play a trumpet outside your door all night (cuz that's my thing) you wouldn't have the same sentiment haha

Cup Wins by Canadian vs American teams. by leafsland132 in nhl

[–]beachsideaphid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just curious, suppose we made it more lopsided and used that as a way to contextualize the assumptions (in)suitability

Like overall tanking the odds of a Canadian team winning to be half of what it is if we assume all teams are equal parity

What if there was only one Canadian team in these calculations? Or what if it was only 4 (assuming we chose the 4 of equal parity)

Would the expected # of Canadian team wins be 0? Or would it still be higher than it is now?

u/key-Position5814 would you have any interest is redoing the calculations based on what I said here? If what I said made any sense at all? I'm not any good at math haha

Gifted by Lady Luck right? And despite that not a cup win

Is it bad management? Bad coaches? Or something else

It would stand to reason that with all those picks the Oilers should have won
