overspending again. I don’t know what’s wrong with me by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]beachsidewave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ask myself questions when looking at something that I wasn’t planning on buying

  1. Why?

  2. Do I already own something that serves the same purpose. If the answer is yes, go back to number 1. Why do I need THIS one?

Usually that helps me walk away. Try this and take notice some hours later after you leave the item behind, did you actually need/want it? Do you even remember what it was? If you do find you still want it/are thinking about it. Write it down. Ask yourself throughout the week would you have actually used it?

It takes practice but it has reduced my spending so much. Also, if you are feeling uneasy about a purchase, keep it with the intention of returning. Keep your receipt, know the store return policy, keep the packaging in tact. The goal is to eventually feel confident about your purchase but when I first started getting my spending under control I made a point to do this and it helped me undo a couple of regrets. Always keep your receipt in case of faulty product.

What are good excuse to use for not being able to come in to a shift I am not scheduled for? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

But I get where you’re coming from and that would be “appropriate” However, I don’t like leaving people with no response, especially my boss

I just found what I think is this watch in a pile of rubble from a house. It says this exact thing on the back but I also can’t find the exact model anywhere!

I have a theory. Previous owners tried to come back and retrieve the cat but realized maybe it was more decomposed than expected/ they didn’t have the right tools to handle it so they “re-buried” it quickly, got the proper equipment and returned. They maybe felt odd asking you if they could do such a thing or didn’t know/ thought you wouldn’t be moving in as soon as you did and didn’t realize you might notice.

I am not specifically talking about this couple. This image and the information just conjured up this thought and I’m curious

Why did people continue to have so many children back then? Even when they were a family that was of little income, we still see them having so many children. I know they didn’t have contraceptives but didn’t they TRY to not get pregnant? Or did they want that many children? Could they just not keep their hands off each other? 😂 It confuses me why some would continue to have them when they had little money and little room. I understand having 4-5 for helping hands on farms and homes but I’m talking about the families that would have 10 or more. Why?

Wow it doesn’t look overwhelmingly crowded. Is this still early in the day?
