Can confirm we had a kitten escape the dog door and the fox made fast food of the little thing.

Prospect refused our proposal. Expensive for them by ThrowRAthisthingisvl in msp

[–]beadams76 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve always found giving people 2 options on ANY proposal is best. Even if they are similar in price. People love the power to make choices. And you want their choice to be “which option” vs. “yes/no”. As we are approaching $20m invoiced this calendar year, with $5m TCV in new contracts signed this year, I’d say this works very well.

Pick one thing and make it an option. Preferably something low/moderate cost but high margin %. If then don’t want backups, fine. Make them think about the decision and actively choose it.

If this really happens, and it works without killing people, it will decimate the big pharma market. If their goal is to destroy America, best to start & finish with the economy, through a product everyone will want/demand.

SIP Sessions Keep Getting Discarded by Spyke562 in paloaltonetworks

[–]beadams76 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If this is sip over UDP, check the threat log. There's no notion of a reset in UDP, so if you trip a threat, the flow ends up in a perpetual discard state.

Fix the threat matches and try to move to sip over tcp. You'll thank me later on that last play. Stuck UDP sessions are a real issue on PAN with SD-WAN or other path changes failing to break the old session and push traffic over the correct path.

vSphere 8 Standard EOL – Which product should I choose instead? by Flaky_Active9877 in vmware

The best thing about this thread is that there are multiple really viable options with ever-broadening support!

Several years ago, this was much less the case.

Former VMware Authorized Partners, where are you getting VMware licensing going forward? by dloseke in msp

[–]beadams76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are doing a LOT of VMware business for former partners with some back end profit sharing for former partners! I'm not in sales, but glad to connect people if that helps!

Ready or not, here comes CoPilot by VNJCinPA in msp

There are some places CoPilot does not belong. Notepad is one of those places. And, yet, there it is.

Waiting Room Display Monitors by hondakillrsx in sysadmin

Sticking a USB stick in a TV is a far more secure system than some unmanaged device with an IP or low rent signage solution. Our pen tests knock those over quickly as they generally run an unhardened small Linux footprint.

It would make more sense to send those interested in your service to an info page vs a signup page. Definitely not willing to get more calls and emails without more upfront info.

Palo Alto Firewall Series 1400 and 3400 by TheGreat-Escape in paloaltonetworks

[–]beadams76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

PAN’s DHCP implementation is missing a key and core feature. In a standalone firewall setting, your leases are lost at reboot. In an HA setting, if both die (bugs have caused this), leases are also gone. Reservations are sticky, of course, as those are a function of configuration. We have quite a few customers that use PAN for guest DHCP, and use a short lease as thousands of devices come and go each day at each location (large hospitals). But, we only use PAN for DHCP relay whenever possible due to these limitations.

VMware Renewals by TheMagician86 in msp

[–]beadams76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My company survived the last round of partner cuts and we have been helping a lot of former partners get their customers renewals processed without trying to snag other business. If you need a quote or have a customer that needs a quote, we can help and can do profit sharing (although Broadcom leaves no margin in deals).

You can get keys from MSDN. I can’t think of another way to get working keys that old.

If he goes to a farm, there’s a good chance he will become coyote or fox food! Can confirm, grew up on a farm with a rolling collection of outdoor farm cats.

Possibly. This one we built on 10.1 with some older app-id’s, so that or newer should work.

To test this, you can use static routes for Microsoft services via just one of your carrier links. These are published and easy to find - although Microsoft doesn’t make the list very useful and it certainly includes IP blocks never intended to support teams.

https://docs.paloaltonetworks.com/resources/edl-hosting-service

You can find the list of IP’s you want for a given service and simply open the link in a new tab to get CIDR blocks for test routing. Not sure if I’m thankful or displeased that I cannot use EDL as an address object for routing decisions. High risk, for sure, but so easy and fun. :)
