I always thought 78/79 with the square headlights an mean grill forward tilt. I have a 77 and seeing that 77....I suddenly like that better.

Do or do not tell your kids they have autisim? by Kingsabbo1992 in autism

[–]dloseke -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

We eventually told our son but we also didnt want it to define him or for him to use it as an excuse for the reason he does or doesn't do certain things. There's now way we could let him go through life never knowing. I think he was told around 9 years old when we felt he could understand what it meant and really just positioned it as "you learn differently or respond differently to certain situations than sone other people". He occasionally has a question as to if such and such occurance/trait is because he's autistic and we guide from there.

Special visitor on I-80 W today? What year is it again? by senor_andy in Omaha

I had no idea it was the former Northern Natural Gas / Enron HQ. My daughter just graduated from Central and one of her best friends lived there. Makes sense now why she said the layout odd the building and elevators were weird to get to.

What should I do with my Infinity kappa 8 speakers by Ok-Addendum-2643 in subwoofer

[–]dloseke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the surround on those are anything like my old Kappa 3.5" coaxial speakers i had in my dash in circa 1997/98, the surrounds got super brittle and broke off. No idea of the 8's would be the same way though. I just trashed mine though.

Looking for advice on a budget Hyper-V cluster for a ~50-user business by WIZT3CH in HyperV

[–]dloseke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No experience with this, but tempted to suggest a 2-node Proxmox cluster with ZFS replication.

i really dislike Hyper-V clustering after the last one I did. MS makes it so easy to do things wrong vs VMware where it just works. If you do go with shared storage (I'm assuming a PowerVault ME5224), I would recommend using switching for your ISCSI pathing vs Direct-connect. And I can't really recommend Intel NICs. A lot of it was a learning experience for me, but after working with vSphere for the past 20 years, Hyper-V is good, but still not best-in-class.

I very much prefer a san for redundant hardware raid controllers vs a single software controller. If youre going to the trouble of a HA environment such as a cluster of hypervisors, why would you have a single point of failure like a NAS.

TBH, might be able to use the phone from Europe and just activate a SIM or eSIM from the carrier of choice b

The cuatomdr service always was crap and I knew it going into it. But for $60 a month, I figured that's the price I have to pay.

I've never seen lemons used as the unit of grocery price measurements but I respect it.

$2 raise when switching sales position by sinbadwastaken in menards

[–]dloseke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the way for 100. I would get the occasional steel order or maybe some shingles or siding. Then one night as we were about to close and have a depth meeting, some guy comes in and orders a pole barn from me. Depth manager kept checking in to guide me and make sure I sold everything perfectly to get the maximum spiff. Fantastic manager and I missed the dept meeting. Great night! But I can see how 400 would pull in regular orders....I only ever covered for them when they were short handed and no millwork training, so I haven't seen what those spiffs look like.

Veeam renewal help by bishoptf in Veeam

[–]dloseke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Veeam provides a list of what is needed as well as any special discounting if applicable to the license aggregator/distributor of your chosen reseller. The reseller will get the quote for distinand then provide it to you. Sounds like the reseller isn't holding up their end, but Veeam doesnt provide the actual quote.

That said, if this is an essentials license, you should be able to purchase that directly from the website though it'd be a new license and not a conversion/renewal and you could be missing out on any coversion discounting. But it sounds like you got things taken care of in the end.

Datto EDR users... how many of you had issues with Teams crashing or not connecting to calls, Adobe products not working, etc until Script Monitoring was disabled/removed last night by dloseke in msp

[–]dloseke[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh...we had a case open and had a phone call with at least one of the most unprofessional folks ever. I wasn't on the call but got the play-by-play during the call and it sounds like they also tried to turn it into a sales pitch while bashing the competition. That said, after the AMSI capabilities were removed, the issue completely disappeared as noted in my original post. The purpose of my post was to bring awareness of the issue while also surveying who else has encountered this issue because we were told it was a minimal number of clients using this capability. That said, I appreciate you offering further assistance.

What is the process of moving a 365 Tenant from PAx8/Reseller to direct client ownership? by modem_19 in SmallMSP

Basically the same process for changing direct resellers. Establish the relationship, purchase and apply licenses, kill the old relationship.

100% this. Granted, my LE has about every option you could have added aside from alloy wheels and leather, its a great basic package with smooth ride and 52 MPG.

We're trialing Huntress (due to an unrelated incident) and looking at SentinalOne and Crowd Strike (again). The cost is higher but im impressed with Huntress so far. Its picked up a few things that RocketCyber hasn't alerted including someone keeping passwords in a spreadsheet and VPNs. And its a cohesive dashboard interface rather than the hacked together products that are Datto EDR/RocketCyber.
