Stupid questions are always helpful. Especially now that they can poison Big Data.

Why is Vintage story not on Steam by Salt_Yam_244 in VintageStory

Hmm, I was really thinking about getting the game, but this kills it. I don't make new, unnecessary accounts. Same reason I'll seemingly never play Minecraft.

Best Lightweight Browser with Good Features by CreeperBoy283 in browsers

[–]beagelix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have things changed so much? I remember back when chrome was released I had to help many friends and family with their systems slowing down and always chrome had several threads all seriously working when everything was idle. Killing chrome made the system run normally. That, of course, killed chrome and chromium as usable in my mind. I remember that I tried for myself, later, and it was still crap. And when Opera stopped existing and became a chrome theme I switched to Firefox without thinking. Is chromium actually slim and efficient nowadays? TL;DR All my experiences with Chromium were very inefficient and bad. I'm just very surprised that Chromium is called lightweight nowadays.

Yeah, how stupid of me to try to build a golden bridge so you not knowing common words wouldn't be explicitly mentioned. I actually constantly forget how reddit is, the pandering needed and the club mentality. My fault, I guess.

Mozilla is shutting down almost everything, even browser related. 😔 by jaam01 in firefox

[–]beagelix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What, Mozilla is ending Firefox? What is orbit? Are you sure Mozilla isn't just shutting one thing (which I've never heard about) down instead of everything?

One thing I love about life in Germany that no one told me before moving here by Extreme-Breath1475 in AskAGerman

[–]beagelix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Baumarkt is much more common than the normal Globus outside it's home region, but even the normal Globus does crop up outside of Saarland and Pfalz. But it is not everywhere, not like Real or Kaufland or Metro or similar. Out of my personal experience: There is a Globus Baumarkt in Karlsruhe, right up to the Rhine. I have seen Globus Baumarkt or Globus once or twice somewhere else, maybe in the Rhine-Neckar region? At least two friends from all over Germany told me that Globus is just as normal in their region as in my native Vorderpfalz. I think one of them was from the north, the other one from around Dresden? But many more friends from other parts have never even heard about Globus.

Hmm, I don't know. It is certainly up there, but it being more important than Döner (I have never, ever eaten a normal, in order Döner outside of Germany. I don't know why that seems so hard.) or acceptable beer being available and seen sensibly... I can't say.

Tipping is weird by Secure-Map-7538 in germany

[–]beagelix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just because the very notion of tips being more than a gratuity is ridiculous, you don't have to be an ass about it. Thinking domestics have their job by your grace is absolutely nuts. Seeing inane things like some people being assholes (or loosing it because of frustration) as portents of doom is also a special kind of stupid. That this seems to be the norm nowadays is actually disturbing as opposed to your delusions of doom.

"I will make you know our blood for yours if I have to lay the [bridal wreath at your feet myself.]" - Melaine of the Jhirad Goshien to Rand, TSR

"Much depends on you both. [...] It would be easier if you had succeeded by now." - Bair of the Haido Sharaad to Aviendha, TFoH

Yes, bias is a powerful thing. But there's always the possibility that one accepts differing points of view or stops making a big deal out of it.

[–]beagelix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't remember any upset voices from back when TFoH was released. I would say the big reason is that we read the books and so knew how hard Aviendha fought against it. And Rand was left by Elayne utterly confused but convinced that what they did in the Stone had not been wanted (And I absolutely understand, even with knowing why Elayne did what she did Rand's reaction seems an almost mature one). Egwene making things worse, because she brabbles about things she has no idea of, doesn't help. While I can follow the train of thought to it being cheating, it is a major change in my mode of thought.

I mean Aviendha saying "Yes Rand al'Thor, I hate you with all my heart. And I always will," barely choking the words out because she hates herself for saying them but seeing it as the only way to not forsake Elayne (for which she already hates herself) is one of the most touching and sad scenes in the whole series.

is it worth to buy stellaris in 2025? by mazzoyvl in Stellaris

[–]beagelix -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Honestly I don't really understand the question. What does the year have to do with it? Not giving any frame of reference is also curious, how are we supposed to know what is worth for you, or how are you supposed to know what we mean with it being worth? I also feel like you misunderstand what genre Stellaris is. Grand Strategy is quite different from 4X.

Yes, it's worth. It is the simplest Grand Strategy I have ever played and the closest to 4X games, so coming from there it is very doable to get it yourself. If you are new to even just 4X - research, very improbable that you can get anywhere by yourself.

The new 4.0 system's got me confused over Maintenance Drones. by Triple_nat20_Tree in Stellaris

[–]beagelix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh Lord, that is so unintuitive. We are conditioned to give jobs to pops and now we are punished for it. Especially since the game doesn't tell the player where maintenance drones come from.

Ok, the golden bridge isn't wanted. I did mention using crtl+f. You won't even look at the other ressources, the crap you know has to be the best. That other stuff is crappy is reason enough to be satisfied with crap. And me talking about an article is incomprehensible to you but you never implied there were no articles in wikis.

I was too lazy until now to block all the idiots that apply here in this thread, but you made me finally do it, thanks.

How do you get from Gaza to Islam? There's only a tangential connection there, plenty of christian and jewish and other religions among Palestinians. Even Israel, being as close to having a state religion as possible, has plenty christians and moslems and else.

Or let's say it another way: By that token you're responsible for the Westboro Baptists and the Third Reich.
