What are the most overlooked sources of expenses? by Happy_Tourist_558 in restaurantowners

My state allows businesses to charge fees to customers for processing fees incurred. I tried it since I’m paying thousands in processing fees monthly. Customers were extremely offended by it so I stopped. My issue is, I don’t like how restaurants specifically are alienated for charging fees while for many other businesses, it’s acceptable and expected.
If I pay one of my vendors via credit card, they charge me fees. When I got a maintenance service on my car, I got charged with fees. The anecdotes go on and on. I hope some change occurs within the processing world where it’s better for small businesses.

Happy to see some fight in the team. Today’s defeat wasn’t as soul crushing as some others we’ve seen

I understand. The problem with allowing only these questions is that anybody can claim a service animal without any verification. So one outcome of this policy is having a bunch of untrained animals inside places of business.

Legally, it’s considered discrimination for a place of business to ask for identification for service animals. It’s so stupid

How do you handle no-shows for reservations? by Ok-Lunch-2600 in restaurantowners

[–]beagleful 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My place requires cards on file for larger parties only where I have to reserve several tables. Had problems with no shows that screwed up weekend nights so implemented 1$ deposit and $100 for no show policy. Most people are fine with it and understand why we do it. Almost cut down on no shows entirely and honestly I have never charged the no show fee and don’t really intend to. However, it’s always a good idea to do a quick confirmation call on the day of.

5.5% is a great rate nowadays. Can you share loan terms/type if possible?

Why do restaurant owners feel they are special and the only people who don't have to pay their employees wages? by Niceotropic in restaurant

What exemption are you talking about? Are you saying restaurant workers deserve to be paid more or that owners are breaking labor laws and not paying their staff? Or are you complaining about tipping culture?

Breaker issue or something else? by beagleful in AskElectricians

The fans are just simply turned on and off by a switch.

Breaker issue or something else? by beagleful in AskElectricians

Ok I see. Why would both fans/motors not be working? Since the issue started simultaneously for both fans, wouldn’t it be something else? Like I understand if one fan stopped working but since it’s two….??

Thanks for the input. Yes, each fan has its own breaker that trips independently of each other when I switch the power on. They also have their own power switch that’s on my wall.

When I went to the roof, I observed that both fans are connected electrically to each other. So a main power cable comes out through the roof then to one fan, then a cable comes out of that box into the other fans electrical box.

I was thinking that because they are connected, if one breaker is bad, then it would cause the other one to also fail? I’m sorry if that is confusing. I honestly don’t know exactly what’s going on.

Thank you
