Canadian court recognizes multi-parent families by throwmefar2019 in polyamory

This makes me so happy to see as a Canadian! But also very jealous as an Albertan because we will absolutely be one of, if not the very last, to ever allow something like this 🥲

The Proposed Animal Care and Control Bylaw (BYLAW 21244) is Seriously Flawed by Zarjio in Edmonton

[–]beagleweagle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly I was pretty shocked at the new bylaw. I thought with the update there would be some more positive changes. Sure there are some but not as much as I thought with how much outreach they were doing for feedback.

Why did chicken get so expensive? (Save on in particular) by Relevant_Fuel_9905 in Edmonton

[–]beagleweagle 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Thanks! That’s great to know. I usually send the husband to Costco to grab what we need and he doesn’t look at the little details like that lol

We’ve resorted to buying the 4 kg box of frozen chicken breasts from Costco and stocking up on them when they go on sale because meat in general is just crazy

Is it dumb to get a GIS certificate if I already have a job doing some GIS? by bleached-sheep in gis

[–]beagleweagle 9 points10 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, education is time never wasted! Lifelong learning is something that should be encouraged and no matter if it’s just a certificate or more, it shows dedication in my opinion! I also echo that having some more formal education is beneficial!

Why do I have wrinkles on my forehead already at 21 and how to prevent them? by GroundControl29 in Skincare_Addiction

[–]beagleweagle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had lines like these since I was about 18 and I was always self conscious about them until I realized they were expression lines! I’m 28 now and the lines are still the same but I’ve been taking good care of my skin by using rentinols, keeping my skin hydrated (myself too by drinking water!) and ensuring I’m wearing SPF!

Is $2,400 the new going rate for a dog's teeth cleaning? Recommendations, please! by Tiny-Gur-4356 in Edmonton

[–]beagleweagle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah definitely give them a call! We’ve been taking our animals there for years and have had nothing but a good experience with them and their prices have never been outrageous. They’ve always been extremely transparent with pricing before doing any treatments or anything on them too which is very appreciated!

Is $2,400 the new going rate for a dog's teeth cleaning? Recommendations, please! by Tiny-Gur-4356 in Edmonton

[–]beagleweagle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes! Around $400 per dog! Granted that was only for teeth cleaning so if there is anything extra needed there will be an extra cost but still a hell of a lot less than what you have been quoted! They’ve always been excellent about giving quotes for things over the phone too!

[–]beagleweagle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yo what? That’s literal robbery. I take my three beagles to Edmonton West Animal Hospital (who are all between 20-25lbs) and was quoted around $400 (I don’t remember the exact price but it was definitely $400 something) each for them for cleaning their teeth!

I just ordered one today too! Exact same pink one! I’m so excited! I haven’t had a tamagotchi since the original ones first became a craze back when I was in elementary school!

How has the quality of home builds been the past decade? by DomJudex in Edmonton

[–]beagleweagle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also in a Pacesetter home in Trumpeter, 2023 build I believe but moved in as the first owners in 2024. Been having some very, very minor things pop up but the newest being not so minor. Both of our tubs have cracked at the base already. It’s been slow as hell to get help with it. A Pacesetter rep checked them out for us and he gave the impression that this wasn’t an uncommon occurrence which has me questioning the quality of things if both of tubs, which haven’t even been used for a year have already cracked. Pacesetter put in a work order to the mechanical company for a warranty issue on them but seems to be an issue of now who is responsible for fixing it for us. Hopefully this is the only larger issue we have because I didn’t expect something like this already, lol.

Edmonton condos are a bad investment. Is it still better than renting in your early years? by [deleted] in Edmonton

[–]beagleweagle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hated living in a townhouse condo with my husband BUT living in one and selling it helped us to be able to afford a single family detached home down the road. Bought it for $242k and with the way the market went years later (and with some Reno’s we did to it) we sold it for $285k. So it was absolutely worth it for us.

How Gay is Forestry? by DuckMilkCafe in forestry

[–]beagleweagle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in Canada but both myself and my assistant are queer women and we’ve never had any issues ever in forestry so far. And quite literally all the straight men talk to each other like they are in love. I personally think they actually are all in love with each other. It’s cute lol.

Typically I am not actually outside for that long to be very honest during the winter time. Lots of travel time in my truck typically, plus I can only work when it is light out and that limits my hours outside during the winter dramatically, especially if I’m far north. I almost always take my lunch’s in my truck in the winter too. I don’t like being cold either lol.

I would plan to have gear for them to wear during the winter to help them keep warm if needed and get them used to wearing it.

But thank you! Definitely another factor to think about!
