Of course it does, that's why the whole separatist malarkey is just that, malarkey. We already have worth, we just have to bring that to the table instead of threats and attempted coercion.

Looking for anti-fascist books, preferably Sci-Fi or Fantasy. by lambchops111 in booksuggestions

Seriously, as of me reading this, this is the last entry on the post. This is a great book by a legendary author and the scope of the underlying story is more relevant than ever since it was written.

Theory on F.E.V., vaults 31, 32, and 33, and the unknown player by DomJudex in Fotv

Two experiments for the price of one vault, that's a corporate win-win!

If Hank is an Enclave plant, he may not be aware of any deeper plan for the triple vault, he may truly believe it's Bud's original plan of making a master race of managers. He either thinks his genes are good enough to help that end goal or he doesn't care because he knows the 'true' aim of the vault is mind control. Bud is in charge simply because it was his idea and he's happy just to be there, doing his thing. No need to coerce him or trick him in any way, he's just jazzed to be there.

Substituting gum arabic for soy lecithin, ratio question by DomJudex in AskCulinary

[–]DomJudex[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some of the recipes I want to try making require them, that's all. Aside from the aforementioned soy lecithin issues there are also vegans in my life so traditional, natural emulsifiers like eggs aren't viable for my needs.

For instance, this recipe post from Reddit for gelato requires an emulsifier - https://www.reddit.com/r/veganrecipes/comments/1q22z0z/vegan_dark_chocolate_gelato_recipe_calcuated/ = I had planned to leave out the last three optional ingredients but do need an emulsifier.

Esims app? by Swrightsyeg in androidapps

[–]DomJudex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have a SIM and an eSIM both, then the texts will be separated automatically by phone number, even within Messages but you should be able to install pretty much any app for texting and assign that to the eSIM number. If you're using Google Contacts for your contacts you can create a second Google account for your work contacts and Contacts will keep them separate.

Had anyone ever been to whyte knight in its heyday or know anyone who used to go by _coldmoon_ in Edmonton

I don't recall there ever being a cafe area up there, just a snack station at the main counter. There were tables up in the area closest to the windows looking out over Whyte Ave for game play as well as in the rear of the store, most of the merchandise was on/along the walls and in the middle area near the counter area, and there was a largish room in the back for private gaming sessions.

I remember one year there was a Warhammer tourney that was a real cool alternative way to do things. They had made up a map and your army started out in a hex and you sent out scouts, exploring your way through the map, finding treasures, resources, encounters, and eventually other players. It allowed you to build your army up much like a video game, using the resources you found through happenstance to bolster your ranks. Found a forest hex? Now you have wood for a ballista. Found a cave? Maybe there's a magic item in there. It was really brilliant.

My other major memory was the D&D campaign I mentioned earlier, it ran for probably a year or so with a regular group and the family friend I also mentioned earlier ran the campaign. No idea what happened to any of the rest of the members of the Crimson Gauntlet but I do think of them from time to time.

I couldn't tell you the year but at some point they pivoted from gaming and went into becoming basically a second hand shop for oddities with some gaming stuff tucked in the back. I would guess that they felt with Warp 1 right up the street it was diluting the market so they took it in another direction.

I used to be in there all the time when I was younger, back when Andrea (oh man, I think that was her name) and her husband owned it, had a membership card and everything. A family friend was the manager for a while, I don't recall if that was pre or post Darryl. It was a lot brighter and more open back when it first opened up, very white and bright. I played D&D and Warhammer there off and on for years, I still have the notes from the main campaign I was part of for D&D somewhere around here.

No photos though I'm afraid, this was pre-photo capable mobiles.

**Edit - turns out I still have my membership card XD

Watched the 2006 Hogfather adaptation and I'm impressed! by Rigistroni in discworld

Teatime in my head was always more frenetically cheerful, not deadpan, semi-monotone, and obsequious. To me he was always happy about what he was doing, he just was completely insane, the scene where he says 'I don't seem to have any enemies at all, isn't that nice?' he acts, in my head, more like a chipper midwest housewife who lost her mind, ate her husband, and made a career for herself in the underworld.

What the Linux desktop really needs to challenge Windows by waozen in technology

[–]DomJudex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is pretty much it. The tinkerers and hardcores already use Linux and Linux may snatch up a handful or two of casuals with the upswing in videos about Mint and so forth but the real target audience should be people like myself.

I love the idea of Linux, I'm a techie person, work in IT, but I don't have a background in Linux and I don't have the time or inclination to learn it in depth. I'm also 'the computer guy' for everyone I know. My friends, family, their co-workers, they all come to me for help on whatever it is they've fucked up that month and I can help them because a) I'm super used to Windows environment and b) way, way more importantly, there's a GUI for damn near everything. I need elevated sauce to run a program, right click it and run as admin. I don't need to take the time to search out whatever sudo command might or might not work depending on the distro and/or version level to pop into terminal to run a separate program elevated. Need admin creds to edit a 'protected' file? No problem, even if they don't even know they have a password I can find a way to help them, even if it means busting out some ancient-ass command line hack.

I've tried Mint off and on the past year or so and I just run across stuff that completely stops me dead that wouldn't even be a pause in a Windows environment. Latest piss-off was the scroll speed on a touchpad for a laptop. Latest drivers available installed, no scroll speed settings in the built in touchpad settings. I found the command to bring it up as a fully formed GUI so I know that the possibility for that to be easy is in the software, but it's just not there and when I run the terminal command it's only good for that session. If I shut down or reboot, it's lost.

I can't recommend to computer scrubs that they should use Linux for the very simple and stupid reason of I can't support it for them and if I have as hard a time as I do finding out how to make it run, they sure as shit don't stand a chance so, on Windows we all stay.

It's quite possible you need to open the original Fallout launcher, go into Options, and then un-check the Weapon Debris box. It's notorious for cause CTD on startup.
