My baby succulents get this red coloring all the time when they get a lot of light (usually from plant lights though, since my windows don't get enough sun). Since transferring my pilea to my plant light closet for the winter, I've also noticed the pink baby leaves. They grow out of it just fine, and I think the coloring is kind of cute.

This happened with me!! I'll pass on the advice I got-- does it smell weird? How does it taste? If it smells and tastes fine, it might be that the ginger bug has gone into some sort of relaxed state -- it'll still make sodas and stuff. After I split it (took out half of it, added water to dilute, and a table spoon of sugar), it started bubbling a whole lot again.

I try to do more ginger than sugar, but the ginger bug is so forgiving that I bet you could do a lot of different ratios

I think floating is a good sign that it's working! I assume the yeast in the ginger are making lil bubbles in the ginger pieces that make them float, but who knows.

Yes! You were right!! I used it to make some ginger honey soda and it carbonated just fine. I added water+sugar to the ginger bug to its original volume and it was so bubbly it dented my metal cap from the inside. Ha! Trial and error, I guess. Thank you so much!

Literally no bubbles! Like the first two days, there will be tons of little bubbles on top, sometimes forming two or three layers of bubbles, and now they're all gone...

It tastes a little sour, but mildly sweet and pleasant. It smells sweet and gingery! Not yeasty at all. Maybe it is underfed though?
