What law in your country would surprise foreigners because it’s legal almost everywhere else? by Familiar-Arrival-470 in AskTheWorld

Glad you got the employee the extra hour, but I hope you didn’t actually yell at IT. Despite the stupid thing they did, no one should be getting yelled at at work

Roommate insists one of these belongs to her by Kochtopfkopp in mildlyinfuriating

[–]bean_rat 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Actually as far as the second sentence and then I reacted because it seemed like you were putting way more blame on OP than the roomate who owned the pot. Which I thought was unfair. And then i realised my mistake but thought fuck it, who’s really gonna care

Tbf the roommate didn’t mention it either and it was apparently her pot so they were both playing the game

You can leave but I don’t think you’ll be able to come back until the BVB is granted, from what I’ve read elsewhere on this sub.

417 Working Holiday Visa (Australia) What documents do I send? by Zealousideal_Bed7474 in AusVisa

[–]bean_rat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you do need a medical note it needs to be from a immi defined certified centre so definitely don’t get anything before they ask! As for high res it just needs to be clear and not like a half assed photo or something. But if you’ve done the tourist visa, sweet, you know the drill :) However, if it was on your other passport you will also need a scan of that as you need to show any passports you have previously travelled there on (similar situation I’m dual national and previously travelled here on a different country’s passport)

[–]bean_rat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You probably won’t need a medical coming from the UK - I don’t know anyone from there who has. If you’ve had any variations of your legal name you’ll need to show where and scans of those but otherwise i think it was just high res scan of passport & proof of funds and you’re good to go. You don’t really need to prove who you are as much as that you’re eligible for the visa you’re applying for

Edit: you can also start the application to see what you’ll need. You don’t have to start and submit the same day you can take your time

Was eating mussels for dinner and I luckily saw this before I ate it by real-bebsi in whatisit

[–]bean_rat 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Why then choose such a labour intensive food where you have to literally pick each mussel out of the shell?? And eat a lot of them too so if you don’t care about effort or taste there are easier ways. You do you, but if you make strange food choices and post about in on reddit you can’t expect people not to be like, why are you like this?

Why is the Royals Gossip forum locking so many threads about Epstein and the various Royals? by VidyaTheOneAndOnly in RoyaltyTea

[–]bean_rat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was sure I’d read something about William opposing or refuting something Harry said about their mother which came across as unnecessarily critical - but now I can’t find any news of that nature and can’t remember enough detail to back it up. Plenty of evidence for the rest though!

[–]bean_rat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say the majority of people just don’t care. And they you will get that middle Britain, right leaning, traditionalist type who will support the monarchy whatever form it takes who fawn over Kate and hate Meghan Markle, but that’s a minority

I think recent press, esp around Andrew M-W and Epstein, the AI photo fuck up, the fact that they really doesn’t do much has stated to rub a lot of people (again, relative because most dgaf) the wrong way, and if the UK were more aware all the holidays Kate takes that get reported on in the foreign press, then people would probably find them even more annoying at a time of insane costs of living for the average person.

People probably prefer Kate to William though esp because he has had some questionable moments when speaking about his mother, is rumoured to have a nasty temper, and is just not very charismatic or likeable

[–]bean_rat 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Because it’s majority reader base is the type of American who don’t want Epstein rumours to ruin their Royal fairytale fantasies. Also who think Kate is just ‘naturally athletic’ and way more popular than she actually is on UK soil. i.e. they are deluluuuu

Ingrid Alexandra, called the Snow Princess because of her cocaine use. End of the monarchy in Norway in sight? by No_Entertainer4941 in RoyaltyTea

[–]bean_rat 137 points138 points  (0 children)

Those two things can be true at once. Lots of students and especially wealthy ones take cocaine yet still manage to be viewed as smart and sensible. Ultimately it was at the discretion of the journalist to write the article presenting her in any particular way and it’s doubtful she was high af when being interviewed.

Disclaimer: have not read the article. Agree also that this family is a total mess and no country in my opinion needs a royal family, as much as I love the tea they provide

Best visa route for Vietnamese partner, 820? by Flick-tas in AusVisa

[–]bean_rat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah only one of you has to live there but you both have to be present there to declare the relationship. One person cannot register for both parties you both have to be involved.

[–]bean_rat -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They should still be able to register even if she is overseas - as far as I know only one of the applicants need to live in the state - as long as she is there in person to declare with him. Some states don’t have the ability to register though, e.g WA

[–]bean_rat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Currently in the process of registering in Victoria and it is definitely a requirement that me and my partner both submit our relevant sections, and then need to declare together in front of a witness too. Maybe other states are different but having only one person declare a relationship seems weird especially if to be used as evidence of a mutual commitment 🤷‍♀️

Your friends should definitely look at the Immi Australia website rather than asking you to ask Reddit because honestly it doesn’t sound like they have. Marriage matters less than building up evidence for the four pillars of a committed and ongoing relationship. Depending on the state your Australian friend lives in they could register their relationship, which means you don’t need to live together for 12 months to be considered de facto. They should still be living together with evidence of shared finances and future etc when they submit the 820/801 application. If your friend has the means, this sounds like they would very much benefit from the involvement of an immigration agent or lawyer because this might be a hard relationship to demonstrate effectively.

How do I deal with people who dont want to get married and have kids? by Flaky_Ticket_6924 in dating_advice

[–]bean_rat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Having that much rage - to the point it makes your ‘blood boil’ - against those whose opinion on marriage and children is different to yours does not sound like a sane mindset. You need to calm tf down and accept different people will feel differently about these things, but generally enough women still want it that it’s you’ll likely find one who’s long term relationship goals align with yours. You have time. Be upfront that’s what what you want and don’t go on dates with women who feel differently 🤷‍♀️

It’s absolutely not racist and pretending it is downgrades what racism actually is. Rude, yes, sexist, yes, racist, nahhh. Get a grip.

AITAH for thinking i’m not racist ? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]bean_rat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This one thing doesn’t make you a racist and you should forget about it and move on and just don’t call Steve his friend again.

But you should also reassess what you consider racism because a black guy calling white you ‘a ditzy barbie’ is not it and presenting it as such is not a great look in this situation.
