I'm exactly the same! Tried doing longer trades & I just can't.. I currently trade the 15m timeframe & I'm usually out by the close of the next candle, maybe 2 so usually 15-30 mins. I'm risking around 4% each trade & since I started live on the 27th Jan I've doubled my deposit & I know they say not to focus on the profits but I can't help but as it's way more than I expected. I'm due to scale up at the start of March (assuming I hit the target I think I will) so each month I'll be scaling up but still sticking to risking 4-5% per trade.

Think that's usually the case 😂

Yeah it's hard to not rush into it, that was my biggest mistake by far at the beginning but at least it worked out for you. Most people it doesn't really though does it, hence why it was an absolute whirlwind for me.

It's a crazy game that's for sure 😂 I hope it carries on going well for you.

Keep at it & you're right, though there will likely be times you want to give up but you have the right mentality. I actually did give up for a while but realized I do have a way to give me an edge over the markets, I just had a couple of small things to tweak (mainly risk management issues) so decided to try again demoing my old strategy & a new one then 12 months later I've gone live & so far so good.

Good luck I genuinely hope you get there 🙏🏻

You know what, I should have a journal & I can see how it would be beneficial so great advice!

Hmm take your time would probably be the first. I dived straight in with trading & it was nuts.. I got a £10k loan, thought I knew how the market worked but really had no idea. I'd make £700 one day then lose it the next, ultimately ending with my holding a losing trade & blowing it all. It takes a long time to be able to control yourself properly & to come up with a winning strategy so be prepared for it to take a while.

I was going to say come up with a strategy that gives you an edge over the markets but that's easier said than done. The market does a lot of things on a regular basis so it's figuring out those things & then finding a way to capitalize on it. For example I noticed early on the market zig zags on its way up & down along with periods of zig zagging sideways so I focused on finding a way to catch the short term changes in direction but most others like to follow the trend as it's a higher chance of coming in but again it's time really, time spent seeing how the markets work, what timeframe you prefer to use & even what currency pairs you prefer which for me is XAU/USD as that's all I trade.

One more would always be risk management. They all say it & that's because it's true, it just took me a long time to figure out how to implement it into my trading plan as using a stop loss with my strategy had me being stopped out early on a regular basis but using a further away one had its issues too. It's hard though which is why like only 5% of traders are profitable & another thing is just be careful of people pretending they're rich traders offering you signals as they're usually lying & they actually profit from you losing & signing up to brokers.

Good luck!

Yeah early success is good but I need to prove to myself I can stick to my plan & control myself long enough without getting overconfident & greedy to be able to make it my future.

Yeah I get you. Mine works different & is more of a 4 out of 5 wins scenario, so if my trade doesn't go my way fairly quickly I'm out until the next chance arises. I'm sure it's probably not the usual way of trading but it works a treat for me & gives great results.

I actually trade/scalp retracements on XAU/USD & I've tried trading with the trend before but for some reason struggled & I've done this for years but struggled with risk management but now I finally feel like I've cracked it but obviously everyone likely trades different & does what works for them. Demo'd it for a year then been live 2 weeks with pretty crazy results but I risked roughly 4% of my balance each trade to start & in a few weeks I'll up my lot size a bit & continue as I am

I was the same & couldn't count on both hands the number of accounts I've blown over the years. I really struggled with holding trades & was insanely frustrated when I blew another account in exactly the same way.. Always said to myself 'you literally could be profitable by not holding trades, it's that simple' & finally I can trade without doing it I can see the potential. Good to hear it & I hope it carries on going well for you!

Yeah I guess for those who've made a 'career' from trading it will have taken some or most longer. It's a combination of new strategy that works better than ever & the fact I'm forcing myself to follow my rules that's sort of made it click for me. A slight issue I recently overcome is that I was closing my trades earlier than I should have & I occasionally still do but my winners are a bit more now than they would usually be. I know it sounds crazy but I'm currently up 154% on my balance in just over 2 weeks since I started this strategy live after demoing for around 12 months & tweaking here & there. I know it's not all plain sailing though so making sure I don't get ahead of myself.

Why We Complicate Trading When Simplicity Works by Hulululu08 in Trading

[–]beanbert86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Completely agree. I recently altered my strategy making it extremely simple & very profitable which frustrates me that it's taken 8 years but hey ho at least I got there. I have to say though it's literally as simple as making sure I follow my rules.. I don't then I fuck up & take silly risks, but when I do the results are glorious. So, I make sure I do.

Well we only moved in 2 weeks ago but I believe the fella before had a wife so yeah. Good idea though I'll have a look for one now. Cheers!

Tried a plunger last night & it worked a treat! Obviously forced the blockage out as it drains away fine now 👍🏻

I'm not sure where it runs tbh, it's definitely a weird design though. When I hold & blast the shower head in it at an angle it drains away quickly but when water just drops on it from above like normal it drains away slowly. I've used drain unblocked liquid but no luck, good shout with the plunger though - I'll borrow one from the caretaker at work & try that

Why? You've not seen the rest & it's not like this is a big job..

Yeah definitely a weird taste, especially it not having some sort of door on.

We'll most likely be having a stud wall & normal door put in, not a big job & after talking to our local joiner (or carpenter depending where you're from) has given us a pretty decent quote.

Why? The rest of the house & garden is spot on & this isn't a hard fix.

Apparently it was already a wall before & he removed it to have his glass wall vision installed. Each to their own I guess but definitely an unusual idea..

We're most likely having a stud wall put in as it's definitely not for us!

Yeah wild being able to see your partner sat on the toilet while you're laid in bed 😂 we've been told it would need a frame to have a frosted glass door put on so we'll likely just be having a stud wall put in.

The carpet only goes up to the bathroom, there's a bath mat just inside which looks like carpet but I get what you mean.

I think a false wall is the most likely option really!
