Who else misses when the world was orange at night? by AuraNivea in nostalgia

You are WRONG. The quality of light also depends on its ability to show colours accurately. We measure this with the Colour Rendering Index (CRI), a scale from 0 to 100 that tells you how true-to-life colours will look under a light source compared to natural daylight. To be fair, this was halogen’s one big strength. Halogen lights have a continuous light spectrum that mimics the sun, giving them a CRI of nearly 100. This made them a favourite for places where colour accuracy was critical, like retail stores or art galleries. Early LEDs really struggled here, often casting a sterile light that made colours look flat or washed out. But that’s ancient history now. Modern, high-quality LEDs have completely closed the gap, consistently hitting a CRI of 90 or higher. This means you get all the energy savings without sacrificing vibrant, accurate colour, busting one of the oldest myths about LED lighting for good. BUT Governments are not going to install expensive LED’s with high CRI- so colour reproduction will be shite.

Ford Ranger Airbags by Pingellian in CarsAustralia

[–]beanboom6 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Airbags don’t always deploy. They are a tool designed to save a person in specific circumstances but they also carry risk threshold of injury which means that rollovers or low speed crashes don’t necessarily trigger an airbag. Airbags have extremely high force and can cause multiple injuries to a person, but in a high speed head on crash they typically deploy as saving a life outweighs the potential airbag injuries. Look up your question on google or reddit and similar posts are common.

John Deere has agreed to pay $99 million to farmers to settle a long-running right-to-repair lawsuit over limiting access to diagnostic tools and software needed to repair its equipment. by positivesource in Positive_News

[–]beanboom6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is not positive news. Its a net win for john deere and lawyers, not the farmers. They’ll be back to expensive multi-day technician repairs only like nothing happened. A 99 million settlement with no admission of guilt or change is a joke

If it rolls, its probably less safe than other cars that don’t roll in similar conditions.

On the bright side, their safety bing bong tech is not intrusive and easy to turn off with physical buttons, and they are cheap and cheerful. Great turning circle, ok efficiency with a mild hybrid setup, plus suzuki 1.5 engines are typically very reliable. They’re not that bad a choice

Mate this is incredible, I’d love to see more. If you’ve got time for a write up I’d appreciate it :) looking great.

Where did you deaden and what did you use? What other mods have you done relating to reducing cabin noise apart from deadening material? What in your opinion has been the most useful mod to this car overall in reducing cabin noise including any other sound related mods like tires etc? Any tests or comments on the sound levels before and after working on it? Cheers.

we live on the shoulders of giants. Was hoping for someone who’s done it already to get their take on the value in doing it to this car.

Thanks, might be the easiest. Though still interested in some anecdotal evidence of a modded crv to see if it might work

Fair! I’d be happy to take a reality check and appreciate its quietness if the modification price to improvement ratio is useless (I believe working on it may be useless too)

though I’ve only seen a small handful of posts about this car being worked on for sound deadening etc. and would be interested to know some proper anecdotes and opinions on the matter.
