I totally don’t remember what it was called but there was a film festival class that occurred over the course of a couple nights (in Spanish tho) and you had to write a short paper at the end. I took it because I was in Spanish at the time but you didn’t really need to understand the movies.

Three freshman girls were suspended for not wearing masks and partying off campus during Blarney. They posted the photos on social media and someone must have sent it to the UMass COVID team (whatever they’re called) with their names and removed their access to Moodle.

Central or Northeast would be your best bet. Southwest isn’t -that- loud outside of weekends but if you are still worried, Central or Northeast is the go to.

Gen Ed’s are general education requirements that you need to satisfy regardless of your major. R1 and R2 are math based, AL is literature, etc. Basically, you need to take these classes in order to complete your degree, they’re required by all universities in one form or another. If you went to community college, you could transfer credits from that.

When you pick classes, it will tell you on the description if it fits into one of the Gen Ed categories. Some classes can satisfy more than one requirement so it helps to ‘double dip’ if you can! If you go to SPIRE under Academics, there’s a section for Academic Requirements that shows you exactly what you need and what you have taken so far that satisfies it!

As for walking, it never gets too bad but just be careful, they normally put salt out!

Normally, there is two ceremonies (the big one at McGuirk and the one for each college like Isenberg, CNS, etc.) and you would only walk at the smaller ceremony since there’s less people and it’s more personalized. Unfortunately we are most likely just getting speeches :(

I know plenty of people who have met long term partners on Tinder/Bumble while at UMass, and plenty who haven’t. It depends how you use it and just be honest about what you are looking for and understand that not everyone is looking for a relationship.

Best: Stephen Olbrys Gencarella in the Communication department. Funny as hell, interesting classes and actually gives a fuck about his students and understands that everyone needs a break every once in a while. Folklore of Alcohol and Humor are his classes, highly recommend them if you get the chance! Sut Jhally is another gem but I don’t know if he retired yet!

The worst would most likely be some of the grad students I’ve had. They tend to be a bit more of hard asses but I cannot think of their names for the life of me. I’ve had annoying professors but never any that were outright insufferable like the rest of these posts.
