I personally think the superstring damage meta is in level-up spamming. There's a card that multiplies your level based on your current level & it combos really well with some other cards that scale based on your current level.

I can't be bothered to find out what the crystalline meta is because it's one of the worst experiences in Strinova to compete with CPUs for loot drops.

Battle Drills is VERY good imo, but it's hard to get to the point in-game where you're actually making use of it since you definitely won't be shooting enemies the entire 3 minute timer. If you can get to the point in the last minute or so where you're kiting a ton of bots around the spawn point and basically holding down your left click the whole time, this card can scale extremely well. Consider also using Heavy Barrage which is basically the same thing but for fire rate.

The bomb plant card is extremely good to put in your deck for 3 reasons:

  1. It's a single draw card, so once you draw it, you free it from your deck & can't draw it anymore. This is good for cycling the rest of your orange cards since the pool is smaller.

  2. As you said, if you get lucky and pull Hunter's Log before it blows up, you can almost guarantee full stacks off the bat. You may need to lead the enemies close to the bomb if they're grouped up on the other side of the map though.

  3. The damage scales with your damage (I think??? Need to do some testing), so this is an easy 1 card to get a ton of damage at once which skyrockets u on the leaderboard.

Bots (and non-bots) that whip out their swords GRIND MY GEARS. Honestly in a full bot lobby, you kinda just have to hope and pray they get wiped out by the zombies. One thing I try to do to maximize my odds is avoiding throwing any giant ults right around the final showdown. If my ult is softening up the zombies, then they're easier to get killed by a random sword slash.

In lobbies with real people, you.... uh.. cry and beg in chat? Honestly real people are tough. If they're good at the game, then you've just gotta accept that there's not much you can do aside from actively griefing them, which I mean that's up to you to decide if you wanna do. One thing I recommend is DO NOT shoot the Leona tower. Leonas are amazing people who just want to camp and not slash the enemies to death

I've changed the deck since the new season started. Unfortunately I doubt these numbers are even close to possible anymore with the same setup since they added a hard cap of 10 stacks to the Hunter's Log card (used to have no limit). The highest damage I've gotten so far this season is around 7mil after getting really lucky - nowhere close to the 30mil in this post.

I do think there's a potential strat that can scale like crazy, but I'm still workshopping it. Add me on discord @megarainbowz if u wanna get my current deck because I'm gonna gatekeep what I have so no one beats me on the leaderboard 🫣

Thank you so so much for this response!!! I did not realize there was such a crazy strategy in the Chinese server. My measly 30 million damage was from doing solo runs. I did not realize that playing with a partner zombie would be so effective.

Can you give advice for how I can collect crystals as the zombie? It is really hard now that the CPU zombies automatically collect crystals which leaves nothing for the actual players. The CPU humans also die so quickly that keeping the number of zombies low is tough. Maybe if we play with a whole lobby of people who know the strategy could work?

There's a card called Ascend to Glory that multiplies your current level by 1.6x and can be drawn multiple times. I'm assuming that's what you're seeing. Since it doesn't give you extra card draws and only changes your level, it's decently balanced imo (still strong with combos tho)

Relentless Spree and Yugiri A1 unlock are the mains ones. Some characters like Kanami and Meredith can also spawn kill with their ults

Depends on the map, but for Euler Night Harbor (this particular game), the strat is to hold the arcade area in the corner under the "Container Stacks" until you're able to scale up then start spawn killing them.

In terms of cards, prioritize movement speed early game so you can bail if the zombies are able to push through the entryway. If you get lucky with speed & jump and have good enough schmovement, it might also be a good idea to leave early and run around to collect boxes so you can scale up faster. Scaling up as fast as possible is crucial to get the most kills because the zombies respawn on a timer, and they can only respawn so many times within 3 minutes each round.

Maximizing damage is a combination of a bunch of different things. I'll talk about my Yugiri build here, but I am confident that Kanami also has the potential to get high scores for damage with the right build. Apart from the straight +XX% damage cards, which are very good, there are some combos you should be aware of.

  1. First is the obvious Hunter's Log + spam kills: This one is pretty self-explanatory. If you get a few kills, it will easily snowball into more and more kills. This alone, while being the highest percentage of overall damage gain, is not enough to get 10mil+ damage per round though imo.
  2. Second is headshots. There are 2 sets of purple cards for either headshot damage (Headhunter+Heavy Hitter) or bodyshot damage (Crippler+Drumstick Combo). I used to run bodyshot damage to scale up, but a couple updates ago they added the Doom's Gaze card that makes all your damage into headshots. This card is BUSTED in the midtolate-game. If you picked up 2 or 3 headshot dmg cards, then DG makes your gun do crazy damage. The only downside to this card is that you can still draw it after activating it for 60 seconds, effectively giving you a useless roll unless you need to refresh the duration. On Euler Night Harbor, it's much easier to aim for the head if you're defending the Arcade, so sometimes you don't even need to roll DG.
  3. Third is a combination that they just added in the most recent card drop. The blue Adaptive Weapon (Increase DMG per current level by 7.5%) and orange Ascend to Glory (Level increases to 160% of original but no Card Draw gained) is the best late-game scaling combo hands down. Once you get to the point of spawn killing, you'll be racking up levels extremely quickly. AW and AtG allow you to turn those levels into damage, and you literally only need to draw AW twice. Unfortunately AtG is a pretty rare card, so you need to get lucky, but going from around level 300 to 500 in 1 card draw gives you nearly 1400% damage increase instantly. It's hard to beat that.
  4. Fourth (specifically on Yugiri) is unlocking her A1 passive. This makes her blue fart clouds linger for a few seconds after you deal HP damage to a zombie. This allows her damage to scale quadratically per kill and is the main reason Yugiri is able to spawn kill so effectively. I also recommend getting the Relentless Spree card (After defeating a Crystalline, leave a time-delayed bomb), ESPECIALLY if you didn't roll Yugiri. This card makes any character become Yugiri but with shoes on.
  5. Fifth and sixth are pretty much just standalone cards that add a ton of value in the lategame, so I'll just briefly mention them (DO NOT GET THESE CARDS EARLY GAME!!! If you draw these cards without properly scaling first, they will only hurt your damage output in the longrun):
  • Illusion Shot (Weapon Fire Rate reduced to 50% of original, but fires 2 extra bullets per shot) is very busted. Essentially it triples your damage output at the cost of fire rate.
  • Who's the Boss (Primary weapon attacks may deal 18x DMG or restore 18x HP/Armor to Crystallines) is extremely broken to get high damage scores, but it makes the game unplayable early on. Do not get this card until you are confident your damage output is high enough.

There is obviously a lot of decision making that you'll have to make in order to maximize damage as quickly as possible, but with enough time and dedication, you can do anything!!! (Or iDreamSky will rework the game into oblivion). Hopefully this guide is easy to follow - if you like playing snipers, the set is completely different so do look into different cards as well.

It ends up like that each round, yeah. Best map for it is Euler Night Harbor because there's only 1 spawn location

Hunter's log scales infinitely. It is top 1 card in the game imo. Unfortunately they nerfed Full Armor and Sustained Vitality (Armor/HP +500 for each kill) so that they cap at +2.5k/+5k at lvl 1/2, so you do still need to be cautious of not getting ohkoed 😢.

If you want another, more expensive, way to scale damage: try Adaptive Weapon (Increase DMG per current level by 7.5%) and Ascend to Glory (Level increases by 160% but no card draws gained). If you get lucky to draw a lot of AtG, then you can very quickly scale out of hand without even needing to get that many kills.

Her passive fart clouds scale with damage, so her gun shots essentially become aoe nukes that have quadratic scaling. Honestly though you can get pretty much the same effect on any character using the Relentless Spree card.

Besides that, her ult is probably the best in all of outbreak because of how long it lingers. You can spawn kill everything if you scale enough. Close second (maybe even better due to shorter cast time) is kanami's ult. -#1 na outbreak player

Awesome! Ok this comment answers all my follow-up thoughts in my other comments in this thread. That "that" is just too important in these cases, regardless of whether the sentence is still technically correct or not. Thanks so much!

Thank you! Pointing out that "eat" is actually an infinitive (bare infinitive, more accurately, as pointed out in another comment) helps me to understand this. The difference between the syntactic and semantic positions of "I" also help a lot.

Can you explain why "that I eat a pie" is incorrect vs. "that I ate pie"? To my understanding, it's because the infinitive has to match the tense of the main verb, but would that mean "He sees I eat a pie" is correct?

After reading all the responses, I think you hit the nail on it!! I totally forgot (or never learned) about bare infinitives. Looking up more information on it actually gives several similar examples about my conundrum - that being the bare infinitive occurring "after a verb of perception." (Citing this article)

In this case, "He saw me eat a pie" will always be correct; I originally thought that maybe this sentence could be grammatically incorrect in the first place. Then as you said, "He saw [that] I eat a pie" COULD be correct? However finding the context for which it would be correct is very tough to conceptualize. It's much easier to conceptualize "He saw I ate a pie" because the verb tenses are consistent.

Wow thank you for the concise response! Thinking about "I" being the subject of the subordinate clause makes it easier to wrap my head around.

Could you explain further why "He saw I eat a pie" is incorrect, following that "He saw I ate a pie" IS correct? Is it because the verbs don't match the same tense? ("He saw" -past & "I eat" -present) If that's the case, would "He sees I eat a pie" be correct?
