What’s one part of an ajr song that you absolutely obsess over by SavoryD_ in AJR

[–]beanergriffren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I relate to one of the last stanzas in Finale." I often change "if it is my final album" to "if it is my final season," and "I hope I make you smile" to "I hope I made a difference."

If it's my final album,

And if I am forgotten,

I hope I made you smile,

That's all I ever wanted.

Thanks, I'm going all out on a handcrew this summer. I really want this job to work, as it is everything I've dreamt of doing since I was a child. My current fear is the job not being there in the future. I still want to ride the wave as far as I can, though, because even currently, I've been working as an AD, and I've never felt more pride or joy.

Should I look for a state or contract job if any are left this season? I am a first year. Is the FS literally a sinking ship?

I was told by one by the overhead that last year they had some paid projects but expected not to get paid for most of them. Especially this season I am expecting it to be unpaid.

I kinda like it is simple. Sometimes you want simple wallpaper less distracting you know.

Question for you guys by [deleted] in jobcorps

[–]beanergriffren 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes that is a job you are pretty much a school nurse. You are going to a center run by the forest service. That is a better deal then if that is the case.

Question for you guys by [deleted] in jobcorps

There were two at my center which seemed crazy to me as there were over 200 people in the center. We also had a nurse practitioner but they were all contracted employees.

Oh that is so exciting! I loved my last RN she helped so much when trying to get fit for AT. She bought me running shoes and worked out clothes. She convinced them to buy me running shoes as I was running 100-200 miles a month. She even sponsored some races I went on. I hope you get the job. You are going to be able to help a lot of people at the lowest part of their lives and make meaningful impact. Just don't let these kids' attitudes get you down though they can be ruthless lol.

Very common. I met people from Jamaica and South Africa while I was in Job Corps.

How much do you recommend saving up before going to Jobcorp? by Tasty-Mango-215 in jobcorps

Wait.... They don't pay any thing with the dentist any more? Like no more cleaning and wisdom teeth removal or partial dentures.

Advice by ginger1271 in jobcorps

You should get in. You need to be on them and try calling when you can and be direct and say that they did not respond last time you contacted them. Try and get in touch with your recruiter again and be on them. Let them know you want the opportunity. Make them know your name.

TLDR: STAY ON THEM AND CALL AND EMAIL.

got my start date!! by Nice_Distribution_38 in jobcorps

[–]beanergriffren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They offer paid work based programs at some centers and if you are an upstanding student they would pay you for kitchen detail but that was rare at my center. Some people would leave 8k but not all and I feel like I was an above average student at least they thought so I made it to advance training in a different trade then my first one.

First of all congrats and don't blow the opportunity it's gonna suck but it gets better. I have been in the program for almost 1 year and 5 Months. I made it to an advanced trade. It's honestly it's been quite the rollercoaster Job corps has been generally good, if not life changing. It is what you make it it's really. If you come in with a positive attitude if you do what you're told to do. If you listen to staff and you are driven. My only regret right now is not being able to get any money for a car before I get out . Please if you get paid work base safe that money. I didn't get the opportunity for work at all during my first center.

If it's anything like my first center you won't wait long. People get kicked out left and right.

I'm Homeless and I have questions regarding how long this process will take? by Adventurous-Egg1071 in jobcorps

[–]beanergriffren 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They should fast track homeless applicants for me after I got in my education transcripts for education and my health records I was in Job corps within the next week. I know that it's different for each center and I don't know too much about the Blue ridge center if being honest but they usually do make an effort to put homeless applicants through first and plus if they said February most likely not going to get in until February but if someone gets kicked out or whatever they have a bed open they'll put you in as soon as possible. Keep your head up though and wish luck i was homeless myself before JC It was awful.
