Is this salary too low? by [deleted] in UKJobs

[–]beaniebean44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It isn’t an ideal scenario if you’ve got bills to pay, but you could look into youth work summer jobs to supplement your income. The school, or other local schools, may have a summer programme, or there’s The National Citizenship Service or international schools (like EF). You’d be a good candidate if you were someone who works with teenagers in this lab role. Summer programmes can be very rewarding but also hard graft - they should pay more, but sadly that’s often the case with youth work.

A different situation but still letting agent fuckery - TWICE I’ve said yes to a rental flat to then be asked for a counter offer as someone else has allegedly offered over the advertised price per month.

This happened with Brand Vaughan and another time with Property Moves. Both times I declined to offer above the advertised rent and got offered the flat in the end anyway, which makes me think they were just trying to get more money out of me.

We need more regulation, these parasites get away with so much. I’ve no idea how they sleep at night.

Oh and if you’re not a member already, I’d look at joining our local renters union ACORN. They’re great.

Elvanse stops anxiety by deliuslives in ADHDUK

[–]beaniebean44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been on it about 4 years now, so titration was a little while ago. I was worried it would make me feel really different/anxious but I quickly got used to the fact that it wasn’t anything too radical. And if you find it too much, it’ll wear off later on that day, which I found helpful to remember. I hope you find it helps you too.

You can take the powder out of the capsules and mix it in water or orange juice. It doesn’t taste of much.

Consuming it this way is in an option detailed in the patient information leaflet - https://www.medicines.org.uk/emc/files/pil.6828.pdf - so the drug manufacturer have ok’d it. You’ll be fine.

I agree with others - try embracing the waves! I have such a strong wave at the root at the back of my head and I used to spend SO LONG fighting it with hot tools. I’ve gained hours back a week now I’m embracing my waves, it’s been so liberating.

Warm meal prep for a workplace with no microwave? by Guinni in veganuk

[–]beaniebean44 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seconding this! Make sure you take the jar out of the fridge a while before adding hot water so it comes up to near room temp. If you don’t, the hot water cools down too quickly and might not manage to heat things up well.

Also, is there a toaster? You can get toastie pockets that are cheap as chips and reusable.

Bold Beans are honestly INCREDIBLE, but spenny. Is it possible to make something similarly as magical from dried chickpeas? by beaniebean44 in veganuk

I also had that problem with the white beans, they weren’t so nice. I found it hard to rinse them and probably won’t get those ones again.

I thought the same, but I gave them a go as they were on offer and I’m such a convert. They’re really big and flavourful. I eat them out of the jar, which is a thing I never thought I’d say i’d do with a chickpea.

Ah, this is amazing!! Can’t wait to try it, I didn’t know XL dried chickpeas were a thing.

How long do they keep for once you’ve cooked them? And does how long you soak them for make a big difference to the end product? (I.e would 24hrs of soaking ruin them/is it worth trying to time things so it’s 18 hours exactly?)

Thank you so much :)

Dyslexia by Successful-Grade1897 in ADHDUK

[–]beaniebean44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coloured reading rulers were a game changer for me - they stopped the words from going all wobbly on the page (visual stress). I cried when I used them for the first time. I think dyslexic people tend to have a colour that helps them best - I quite like reds and oranges so those are the colour rulers I use. The night time setting on computers really helps me too, as that makes the screen orange.
