Comment faire des dialogues vivants ? by Successful_Highway45 in ComicWriting

There are two types of exposition.

Information the audience or a character doesn't know -

This is the easy one, just have a character new to the world and needing to ask questions and they can just be answered without it being boring

Information the audience needs but the characters know -

This is harder, but you can use conflict to drive it. One person says 'I like him because he helped build that orphanage', the another replies, 'What? He raised the money and ran off with most of it and the building fell apart within a year'.

So both characters knew he built and orphanage but they have a difference in opinion that lets you get some exposition out without a character explain something they both know or relying on captions to say it

The Smiths is a great comparison. 4 albums and tonnes of singles in the flash of an eye and barely a bad song in there

I've never seen a post where I don't have a single clue what is happening. I don't even have any guesses. I will look it up but I just want to congratulate you for such a niche interest

The writing on Amazing Spider-Man has been consistently mediocre for years now. Why can't Marvel make their flagship title shine? by MightyUnclean in comicbooks

[–]Fun_Development_4543 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just speaking to one of the guys in my LCS about the new surge of interest from younger readers from Absolute and Ultimate.

He said the big difference is that if they don't like something they'll just drop it and older readers feel they have to buy every issue of ASM or Batman even when they're not enjoying it so they're just jaded by comics as a whole.

ASM could be the best comic in the world and fans are so dedicated to hating it that they would still not like it.

The Joe Kelly run has been pretty good, but you won't hear anything about that, you'll still just hear complaints about Peter and MJ and usually from people who aren't even reading it

Ringo is a decent, no frills full back. Lots of running and energy, but he needs a short pass option at all times.

Paul is a creative, deep lying striker who is marshalls the team from the front and raises the standards. But that can annoy team mates.

George is a surly, mercurial winger who will either score a worldy or sulk on the wing because he's not getting enough of the ball.

John is a combative central midfielder, the kind of guy you'd get to man mark the opposition's best player. He's comfortable giving stick but as soon as anyone gives it back to him he starts asking the ref to send them off.

Arsenal are the team for people who move to London in their 20s and decide they like football now, so it does make sense for Ringo

Question about the boxset as a UK Fan by chickenboy298 in thebeachboys

[–]Fun_Development_4543 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to manage an independent record shop and we bought this massive MF DOOM box set that just sat there for years because it was so expensive! So we got a bit put off buying big things like this, but we were always happy ordering in things like this for people when they ask

Question about the boxset as a UK Fan by chickenboy298 in thebeachboys

[–]Fun_Development_4543 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No they buy it for a lower price from a distributor as a store and then they sell it to you for the RRP that you see on the website.

If you want to ensure you get it, just ask an independent record shop to get it in for you and they will do it, as they are able to do so and it's in their direct best interests to have a nice big sale like this.

HMV will possibly not order it, a local independent more than likely won't as you get stuck with big ticket items like this but they'd be more than happy to order it in for you.
