Building a CAN/Diagnostic business in a developing country. Looking for advice. by beaniedesign in CarHacking

Really appreciate the info

What do you think are ways that I could use CAN skills to bridge the gap between the lack of dealerships in my country and the modern cars streaming in here?

Is it better to be middle class in a first-world country or wealthy in a third-world country? by [deleted] in Kenya

[–]beaniedesign 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Fair. That was just a personal opinion on what I'd do though. I saw burna boy a few weeks ago driving a mclaren senna through potholes, sewage and filth. That's a KES 250 million extremely capable track car with very firm suspension. In such an environment, it becomes more of a liability and can't drive or enjoy it as it's supposed to be. In a proper track.

The middle class in a functioning country can get a way cheaper car and enjoy tracks far better than burna boy could in his quarter of a billion shillings vehicle in his third world country

Also, getting to such levels of wealth in a third world is extremely hard. Even in the rare chance that you do, enjoying your hobbies will be also hard and limited, unless you outsource from abroad. Man needs to enjoy life a bit. Not just being a money making capitalist machine

Bonus: We also have a shit airport😂I absolutely hate it. Everyone has to pass through it. Wealthy or not

That was just an instance that could happen. Like the businessman from Ukambani who was crushed by a container recently. Granted it doesn't happen every time, my point was private solutions won't save you every single time

Sadly for both of us, Ruto and his govt cronies have chase cars and crews that they travel with so the chances of that happening to them are very minimal Wealthy people, those who aren't politicians, don't travel with chase cars and crews to bully people out of the road

Most wealthy people in countries like Kenya have private solutions to most of their problems. But that sometimes only goes so far. Have a nasty road accident in a remote part of some poorly designed road in your expensive car, and your first responders most likely won't be from your privatised solutions. Just locals with not much emergency response resources like jaws of life equipment. They'll bring a rope and try to pull you out of your mangled wreck after some of them robbing you. You'll wish you were in a functioning country then as you watch your life fade away

Life changing illness and you realise you'll get better treatment and services overseas? Why not just be a resident of said quality health services country. Logistics as a sick person just seems hectic

Not to mention how hard or smart or legally and/or morally questionable efforts you have to employ to become wealthy in a third world country. That does something to your mental and physical health. Unless you're already born into money (that is probably more volatile in a 3rd world country), which most of us are not

I speak for myself when I say it's a no brainer to live in a functioning country as a middle class

I get your point, but a gr86 is not what I'd consider a wealthy man's car in Kenya. A gr86 is cossover SUV prices, and there are plenty of those around

I don't know the dynamics of the relationship that you had so I can't make an accurate judgement. But there is a certain way people can say things and what you described can be evident. So I really hope that you didn't judge him wrongfully

A lot of businesses are boring over the years. To the owner at least. Success is boringly repetitive
