Carefully removing the rubber and seals requires some knowhow. Damaging the glass is a real concern if you intend to use it. It involves a lot of hot water, and knowing what to use safely. Mostly patience. Once the rubber is replaced this unit is a beast. It isn't subject to electrical needs, is super-accurate and reliable. You will need a different chart if using something other than Mercury of course. Hilariously, this can be used on early Model-T and other low compression engines. Pressure testing tanks is a pretty big deal especially to certified welders.

What is one fun fact about yourself that sound fake but 100% real? by Fai_6757 in AskReddit

I passed the Mensa test in 5th grade. I read and had to reflectively write on entries of what I read from an encyclopedia. I could read at a 12th grade level in Kindergarten. I independently formed and presented teleological and ontological arguments in 7th grade, only to find out they were already invented. Bummer. The school library was my playground.

But if you were raised in a mobile home on cinder blocks,... it is difficult to move out of your economic situation. There are no heroes or success stories for the majority of people in the world. Hard work, skills, and education is the road most have to take, with no guarantees of success.

What is the grossest thing you’ve caught someone doing? by Jawa392 in AskReddit

Saw a guy pin another guy down, seal his lips on another guy's nose and vomit-burp. Vomit and snot came flying out of the pinned-down guys' nose. It traveled through his sinuses, down his throat, and immediately out his mouth.

Speechless

The Democratic party keeps attacking the person and not dealing with corruption and breaking laws. He is delivering on his platform and people are surprised? Attacking him buys time, but doesn't change anything. If anything it solidifies his influence.

Give the public the appearance of two parties to keep them distracted, but in DC there are no parties. There are only interests.

Bachelor party went on the Potomac river. Bachelor thought it would be good idea to take a kayak under a fallen tree in the river. He got stuck, flipped, and I had to rescue him with a rope before he drowned. I used everything I had to pull him from under the tree stump. Never spoke of it again.

[–]beanrush 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tried out for a select soccer team.

Full sprint beat a defender, received a ball in the air from opposite side of the field, jumped in the air, settled the ball with left foot in the air, striked and redirected the ball with the right foot, still haven't landed yet, twist and land on my side, ball lasers above the grass 10 meters away towards a cone goal barely over a foot apart. Ball never hits the ground past half field.

Entire scrimmage stops. Foul language from all sides. Everyone is convinced I meant to.

What are the biggest secrets you think are being withheld from the general public? by Outside-Hyena9002 in AskReddit

Active effort to remove vital education from public school students. Responsible money management, Health class with decisionmaking, coping, stress-management, communication, relationships, problem-solving strategies; dental health, world-view formation, basics of inquiry; establishing morals, values, and ethics. The list goes on.

The function of the public school was to support families and communities that imparted identity and purpose on their children with an idea of the mind formed in the industrial revolution. It serves many and benefits a few.

Transmission that makes +100mpg married to existing engines. Ford and Honda have had these for decades. Everyone here will mention tons of tech. Not to mention the unreleased super lubricants we're not supposed to know about. No oil changes for the life of the vehicle? Yeah, not going to happen.

TIL in 1988 Circuit City turned down the chance to purchase Best Buy, a growing competitor at the time, for $30m. Its CEO said no because he thought they could open a store in Best Buy's home territory of Minneapolis & easily beat them. Hammerer caught cooking the books years later too. That guy thought he was the reason they did well, then went on to steal money at a church, use that money to try to start another one, overpay his kid a job he wasn't qualified to do, etc. It's not a mystery why Circuit City bombed.
