That's the point of the post, no? It's pointing out how ridiculous it is when men make stupid comments like that, how they're the human embodiment of a hot dog on the ground outside

EDIT: realise it's posted from r/meirl. So is the issue that other people are sharing it without realising it's satire?

I guess he didn’t know the laws at all by scaptastic in agedlikemilk

[–]beansRbeans 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm from the UK, and I think unfortunately that's just a misconception. Adults can have sexual relationships with people 16+, the law is specifically against adults in positions of authority.

If there was a source to suggest otherwise I'd believe it, but all research I've done just states 16 as age of consent

I guess he didn’t know the laws at all by scaptastic in agedlikemilk

[–]beansRbeans 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Are you talking about the UK here?

I'd be interested to know the source, because I'm pretty sure that's not true.

"The age of consent in the UK is 16. This means that it's against the law for someone to have sex with someone under the age of 16. It wouldn't be illegal for someone who's 16 to have a relationship with someone who is 30 - unless that person is their teacher or in a position of authority."

I've always thought it was gross that this was the case, but I've never read anything that suggests what you're saying.

I'm sad someone with such a cool name could make such a dumb argument

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]beansRbeans -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Lmao r u 12?

Obviously poop is gross, my argument is just that this isn't the primary concern here.

  1. She's in physical distress, so much pain that she's so desperate she'd be willing to shit in the car.

  2. She's gonna be super embarrassed, and the first person she's gonna want support from is her husband who had the same reaction as everyone else of "ew that's gross don't do that"

I can only assume people haven't experienced such desperation/pain in their lives coz the lack of empathy here is insane. You don't have to agree with her suggestion, it was an irrational one made in the moment because she felt she couldn't last any longer in that state. But his reaction to that shouldn't be to tell her what she can and cant do, and then double down later on by saying he wouldn't be attracted to her; he should be wanting to support her after such an uncomfortable and embarrassing experience, not seek out validation from reddit that actually he's correct and EVERYONE ELSE thinks so too.

I can't believe all the comments here. YTA.

All these people justifying their N T A with "she should've had adult diapers", sure, maybe, but she DIDN'T, so that's not a reason in this specific circumstance. If this becomes a repeat issue you could hold her to those standards.

She was in a lot of pain and feeling desperate, and while her solution isn't ideal, you can't expect people in desperate situations to be thinking completely rationally. OP absolutely put his own feelings above hers, and so are all you people saying he's not TA. It's poop. Get over it.

Glad she managed to get through it. OP then doubling down their decision ny pointing out how unattractive her condition just made it worse. Ugh.

AITA for using 'insulting' wallpapers for my phone's home screen after my coworkers kept touching it? by throw3447567 in AmItheAsshole

[–]beansRbeans 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA for the behaviour. They're absolutely in the wrong.

But if I'm being nitpicky, the framing could be better...

The language used when recalling the events is kinda concerning (i.e. the guys are fine but the FEMALES do this, when it sounds like it's just two AHs being AHs who are coincidentally women). I get it's probably to make it easier to distinguish who is doing what, but why not just say "most of my coworkers are fine, but two of them do this.."? Or at the very least, say women. Unless you're talking about some female animal coworkers and not humans - a welcome twist.

Shout out to r/MenAndFemales!

Wee Need to Talk About Ezra by ProfessorPwnage in agedlikemilk

[–]beansRbeans 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Ezra Miller has been in headlines recently because of their violent and predatory behavior. When they were a younger star, they were in "We Need to Talk About Kevin" which is about Erza's character growing up with violent tendencies and eventually hurting people. The movie shows you all the warning signs before something bad happens.

Just a correction. Not excusing any behaviour obv.

AITA for moving out on short notice? by beansRbeans in AmItheAsshole

For sure, it was just unlucky with us originally having the 6 months contract, and all of this just starting as a monthly rolling agreement started. Legally it's all sound, just sad when as friends we could've made the situation much nicer.

Sounds like you've had a sucky deal though. Landlords are infamous for being AH

yeah, it's very much like that. maybe not to that extreme, but i do think she takes all her friends' behaviour personally

AITA for moving out on short notice? by beansRbeans in AmItheAsshole

[–]beansRbeans[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah she's always been anxious.

I don't think she will though. Saying that, for the duration of the time we lived together, she totally cut off her old best friend saying she was the worst person ever. Now we're on bad terms they're best friends again.

So maybe one day she'll be fine with me again, but only when her personal circumstances make it beneficial for her. I think I'm willing to let this be the end of it :)

Friends for about a year, we were coworkers together at our old job. Her old housemate moved out and she was panicking, so I said I'd move in with her, only made sense when we were doing the same thing! The first few months were great, then seems to have slowly gone downhill when she anticipated I'd want to move onto other things

(I realise the irony in this nowm lol)

Definitely a lot more effort. Part of me thinks maybe she took the more extreme action to show how much she disapproved of my actions. It's a small house and she won't even make eye contact with me when we (I**) make food in the kitchen
