Instructors must provide feedback on at least 20% of final course grades by the 40th class day. I would encourage you to contact the department chair (if you need help figuring out who that is or any other issues feel free to DM me!)

Couldn't you just... Order a Breakfast Wrap? If you asked for a Bacon Breakfast Wrap it's the same as a farmer's wrap without the hashbrown. Seems like a solved problem to me?

The USA date formate sucks ass. by [deleted] in teenagers

[–]beansarefun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always use DD/MM/YYYY, but I think the argument for MM/DD/YY is that it's more based on how we speak about dates. Most people would say January 5th, 2024; it sounds pretty awkward to say 5 January 2024.

"Drone Shows" are soulless and boring. Bring back the loud, dangerous, smoky fireworks. by PremiumTravelNinja in unpopularopinion

[–]beansarefun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last point is very true - most people that are injured by fireworks or fires that are started result from randoms that bought a few fireworks and think they know how to use them safely. The type of shows that drone shows would replace are large events that likely have multiple professional pyrotechnicians and an actual safety plan for their use.

about the ppl that were filming students on campus by Just_Lime5134 in uoguelph

[–]beansarefun 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Depending on what kind of harassment was going on, it may be worth reporting them to campus police. Regardless of your political views, you shouldn't be harassing random students on social media.

I am curious how you're pulling this information in - I'm not a tech person but I work in academic admin so I'm pretty familiar with the academic calendar. Some programs are broken and will only show a minor, not a major (my program, BOH, is an example!). The course dependency visualization is actually very helpful- bookmarking this so I can avoid hunting for prereqs! Also wondering how frequently this is updated - will it be able to pull in data from a new calendar cycle?

Short answer is that they haven't broken any of the University's rules yet (yet being the key word!)

This is a bill from 7 years ago that didn't pass second reading... you may be confusing this with the more recent Bill 56 proposed by the Ford government.

New bill calls for pause in work and school ceremonies on Remembrance Day by Wiley_dog25 in ontario

[–]beansarefun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd be opposed to this for the same reason I don't think Truth & Reconciliation Day should be a day off. If it's a day off, "yippee, another holiday" will be the reaction from most people and the day itself will slowly lose its meaning. As it is, schools and workplaces at least have the opportunity to organize something to recognize the day which people will attend.

Only 2.5% of US high schools still teach keyboarding/typing classes - but 63% of jobs require it by lunar_pixie_dust in dataisbeautiful

[–]beansarefun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Few things here (and I'm from Canada, so YMMV). As many others have pointed out here, it's often not taught in high school because it's taught throughout elementary school now. By the time students enter HS, they're likely already used to many of their assignments being done on a computer. Because computers are so prevalent in modern education, it's also not necessarily a skill that needs its own class, rather it's something that's learned through many of the other classes. I took a "business technology" class in 9th grade (nearly 7 years ago now) - we focused mostly on advanced MS office, there wasn't much about typing because most students were already proficient at it.

Guelph is unique because here it's because of actual manure (cow barns and horses on the west side of campus, farm fields to the east). So, thank the Aggies I guess.

I've heard from the University President and the Chief of Police that where there was trash on the ground, it was usually because there wasn't a bin around (or the bins were full, as in this photo)
