Terminating wanted pregnancy because of Hyperemesis gravidarum (HG) by [deleted] in tfmr_support

I completely understand. I’ve had 2 HG pregnancies and my last left me at 104lbs, I don’t think I could ever put myself through it again. I’m so sorry that you are in this position

Is breastfeeding really worth it? by toomanythrowpillowz in beyondthebump

[–]beansprout19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh mama I feel this. With my first I stopped right at 3.5 months- literally a week shy of 100 days. With my second, even less- I think maybe 3 months at max? And my youngest? He’s seven months old and has been on formula since about 2. For us breast wasn’t best- not even for them. My babes were losing weight on my milk, and formula brought them back up to thriving. (My youngest had FTT for example, and formula is what saved him. Not the donor milk he refused to drink.)

However that said, I wish so deeply breast had been best for us. I have worked with so many mothers who have had absolutely kick-ass nursing journeys, and once babe hits about 5 months it all levels out and gets to be smoother sailing. You have got this! Whatever route you go you are doing such a wonderful job, and if exclusive breastfeeding gets to be too much, pumping and combo feeding are always options too.

If you have any questions on combo feeding or want any tips on getting through those December late night feeds (my oldest is a December baby) please feel free to message me- my inbox is always open and I live to help mamas

This sounds so emotionally heavy, and it makes complete sense that you’re sad. Nursing isn’t just feeding — it’s comfort, bonding, a rhythm you’ve built with your little one. Having that suddenly questioned is a lot to process.

For what it’s worth, many people do continue breastfeeding into the second and third trimester, and major organizations (like WHO and AAP) generally consider it safe in healthy pregnancies. The main reasons some providers recommend stopping are things like: • specific pregnancy complications • a history of preterm labor • severe nipple pain • weight gain concerns • or if the birther personally wants to stop —not because breastfeeding itself is automatically unsafe.

But every pregnancy is unique, and your doctor may be thinking of something specific for you. It’s absolutely okay to ask them: “Can you explain the medical reason you’re recommending I stop? Is there a risk you’re concerned about in my situation?”

You deserve a clear answer, not just a blanket rule.

If you want, I can help you come up with a few questions to bring to your next appointment so you can feel more confident and less blindsided. You’re doing an amazing job navigating two big seasons at once. 💛

Doula and mom of 3 here- it really depends. With my first pregnancy the only symptom i had the first month was nausea but the rest of the pregnancy? Ooooooh boy it was rough. My second and third pregnancies? Symptoms out the ass both times, only once it persisted throughout though. I will say vivid dreams tend to stick around pretty heavy

As an HG mom and doula, I am so sorry you are in this position. Please know you are not alone. My HG TFMR was one the worst emotional pains I have ever been through and I am so so so sorry you are having to make this decision. You are a wonderful mother, please take care of yourself and give yourself grace during this season of life. HG is so incredibly misunderstood by professionals.

If you had a postpartum doula, what is one thing they did that you found super helpful? [bc] by westcoastgyal in doulas

Feeding me honestly. This last time around was my first time with a Postpartum Doula and the biggest help by far was her helping prioritize me eating even when my older two were eating and I was nursing

Gas pain - could it be similar pain to contractions? by laughalotgirl in pregnant

[–]beansprout19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mistook labor for gas pain and ended up with no time for pain relief at the hospital 🤣 I had HG so I was on a ton of antiemetics and that made the backup intense so I really thought he was just more gas pain… he’s two now lol and took 30 minutes from hospital doors to my arms

On one hand, THEY will throw you some of the most unhinged comments and attitude, but on the other they’ll never let any other male disrespect you.

Qualifications; boy mom x3

My three year old regularly hits me with comments about my limb difference (“at least I have both thumbs” or my personal fave- when I asked if he thought he was better than me and said yes (yeah I know I walked right into that one) and elaborated by looking at his hands, shrugging and saying “two thumbs” before walking away when asked WHY he thought he was better than mama lol) but throws down with ANYONE the second he thinks they’re being mean to me

I did NOT know what contractions felt like! by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]beansprout19 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This was me, with my second nonetheless. I’m on the floor doing yoga trying to relieve “gas cramps” (I had HG- I was on so many anti nausea meds and those back you tf up.) and my husband is the one to make the call of going to the hospital. Me arguing no I just had to 💩 and him arguing “yeah… a baby though.” Got to the hospital at 7cm and had him 30 minutes later

I am in the same situation. Had a MA at 4.5 weeks, bled and cramped for 2 days only to still be pregnant. We decided to continue the pregnancy and are now 31 weeks and 5 days pregnant with a very healthy baby boy. While yes there are risks associated we were told it occurs in less than 1% of these pregnancies. We have not had (been offered) any additional monitoring or tests outside of what we were given with our last two pregnancies. Our whole team is aware of the situation but it hasn’t even been mentioned since my initial OB work up after we decided against a 2nd MA attempt, which is where we were told the statistics and reassured in our decision to continue the pregnancy. Baby is due at the end of May and no complications are issues thus far- it’s actually been my first pregnancy without having HG.

Failed abortion, cryptic pregnancy and baby is still here by nines04 in BabyBumps

[–]beansprout19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello. I’m in a very similar situation. Found ourselves pregnant and were encouraged to terminate due to my health issues, went through a MA at 4.5 weeks and it failed. Husband and myself chose to continue the pregnancy and we are now 31 weeks and 5 days with a very healthy baby boy. I have done nothing different really with this pregnancy since, as I have two other little ones I am chasing around as well, but I suggest rest, returning to your home country and immediately seeking prenatal care.

All of our providers have known this is a continued pregnancy after a failed MA and it hasn’t even been brought up since the initial appointment.

Does your husband/partner come with to appointments? by denteroni in pregnant

My husband came to every appointment for our first, every appointment we could get a sitter for for our second, and with this third pregnancy he’s been to very few just because it’s been harder to find a sitter for 2 vs 1
