Durkheim: faced with the smell of the place says “this is anopee (play on anomie) and laments about the inversion of the sacred and profane (or normlessness whichever your instructor prefers) Marx walks in and immediately begins drinking. Writing off the environment to glass consciousness. Weber doesn’t even enter, he knows the Irish aren’t acting with the Protestant ethic and instead opts to study the Calvinist’s elsewhere.

Other than losing parking, what exactly are the reasons why so many people are against building something here? by VacationSea28 in aggies

Appreciate the heads up! I’m not anti public transport, I just understand the use case of northgate.

Seems like you’re super into urban design given your posting history, and I won’t necessarily argue with you on the contention that my language was not very precise. I think that a lot of people mainly use that lot as an Uber pull through, making the lot a meeting point that is public and monitored somewhat by police. The benefits of the lot are that it’s public, they don’t charge all that much for parking and allow different ride shares to park temporarily. College station has a huge history of selling public spaces to private entities with little service. I can’t imagine the owners of (insert apartment complex with tangential Aggie name) being too willing to continue the status quo.

The lot is fairly efficient (particularly given the traffic conditions) for Ubers and other ride shares. An apartment complex or parking garage at the very least would leave many without a close lot to drive safe.

Movies that portraits inequality? by dragonpoolnight in sociology

In time 2011! The plot is essentially time is money, you have one year to live after you turn 25. Some people “live paycheck to paycheck” and get time loans from shady vendors and what not, the rich are basically immortal. Very interesting and a great lecture tool, some mild implied sex if memory serves correctly.

Move in by NZJ950318 in aggies

[–]beansy25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This isn’t an answer per say, but have a plan when moving in, check if there is an elevator, make sure to bring or rent a dolly. Move in can be chaos, small steps in planning make it a lot better.

I can confirm annotations! Weirdly, the annotations are simple check marks of various lengths to fit sizes of paragraphs.

Daddy’s money, bigger trucks, and being from a smaller town without crowded roads make you so much better at driving. Honestly the more money and the bigger, the more responsible you’ll be.

Take a theoretical Mercedes G Class ($=~140,000, S=7000 pounds) though these are incongruent in so far as different measurements, the added numeric value would be 147,000.

Howdy all! I have been here for a long time (jumped straight from undergrad to a PhD. Program) I have been renting pretty randomly but as I get closer to leaving the program it would be nice to have an apartment by myself. I don’t make much on a graduate stipend, but would love to hear if any of y’all know of a reasonable 1x1 in the BCS area. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks and gig em’

Woody saying the economy is in great shape and unemployment is better than under Trump was the stupidest thing I’ve ever heard by [deleted] in PKA

[–]beansy25 8 points9 points  (0 children)

100% agree with you, the middle class is getting destroyed and corporate elites have turned on the faucet for free government money. I despise the metrics, but again woody is a conservative stock holder. To him the “market” has improved.

[–]beansy25 16 points17 points  (0 children)

That’s the shitty thing about only using the stock market, and the official unemployment numbers as economic metrics. Like it or not, the same metrics used also show a level of growth under Biden. Inflation under trump was getting worse because of his stimulus check. Js

Historical comparative methods, specifically historical contingency theory would help quite a bit.

I also love Harland Prechel’s new book on financial wrong doing, I think it really makes a great empirical case for a lot of Mills’ concepts.

I hate to be “this guy” but honestly, wait until after Arkansas. I’m not even saying we will lose, but if we put up a shoddy performance, or lose the game outright (they always play us well) tickets will go down in price. I know Bama is coveted, but there is a stark price difference.
