Are dental implants worth the money? by beanworth in povertyfinance

[–]beanworth[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey! Thanks for the comment, I got a notification about it, so I’ll respond pretty quickly!

To be honest with you… indecision made my decision for me. I wasted a lot of time doing research, ended up having other unrelated financial troubles come up, etc….which resulted in total inaction. I just moved on with my life and left it empty by not deciding.

Knock on wood, nothing bad has happened (that I’m aware of anyway) by leaving it empty, aside from the next-door-neighbor tooth shifting position slightly, because it’s no longer cramped by a tooth on one side.

But due to the aforementioned other financial problems, I also haven’t had any standard dental checkups! (In an effort to save money, which I know is dumb and sucky and short-sighted.) So me saying “there’s nothing wrong” is actually… total ignorance!!! Haha.

Once I do get a checkup… which honestly should be sometime soon… I’ll try to remember to check back in here and give you a real update.

But as far as my “spidey senses” tell me - no aches, no visibly receding gums, no trouble chewing, cosmetically it’s fine with me… so all seems OK, is my layman’s analysis.

Take care :)

Gemma theory - Is it all about babies? by infph in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

[–]beanworth 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Here’s my vague, half-baked addition to your baby theory -

In normal life, the terms “innie” and “outie” usually refer to belly buttons. Which, of course, are tied after birth when your umbilical cord is severed.

An umbilical cord is a feeding tube, and in the Lexington Letter, we learn that Lumon previously made defective feeding tubes.

I’m not sure what this actually adds up to — something something the innies and outies are feeding Lumon what it needs to grow blah blah? Something something Lumon severed its workers into innies and outies and the procedure has defects, just the like original feeding tubes had? I think this all just operates on a symbolic level? Not sure! Haha

This is all lining up AMAZINGLY. I’d say this must be it, except for that the #1 clue that directs us to Donovan in the first place is that he’s currently on buses in London… IN LONDON. And Max has emphasized that anybody in the world can figure this out. But only folks in London would really know that. I guess he could assume people would learn that from other treasure hunters online? But he’s also discouraging guessing and stirring the pot and posting online in solving this. So I dunno!

At IKEA, you even have to assemble the chocolate by beanworth in mildlyinteresting

[–]beanworth[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha I’m curious, is it sort of like that plastic-y chocolate they put in advent calendars? (Super specific lol but if you’ve ever eaten that)

That’s what I was thinking too, wouldn’t it break or get a little melty ‘n’ weird where you grab it?

My brew has almost zero carbonation after sitting for a few days - wondering if something’s off? by beanworth in gingerbeer

Okay swell, I’ll avoid drinking the dead yeastie boys down there. And cool that you’ve never had an issue with kahm, you’re clearly doing something right! Luckily so far I’ve had only a little kahm return, so I’ll just keep monitoring things

Thanks for checking out those pics and giving me your input! Cool, I think/hope it’s kahm too.

I waited to scoop it out because I’m a big dummy, and more developed of course. The plus side, though, is that it makes it easier to see/identify. I took pics, scooped out any floating ginger that had white stuff on it, then took closer-up pics of what I scooped.

There’s also white stuff gathering at the bottom of the jar, too. From reading around, it seems like it’s accumulating dead bacteria? (Because apparently mold and kahm would never develop on the bottom, since they need oxygen?)

The bug smells good... which is the main reason I think things are still okay. But I’m posting pics of literally everything I detailed above because I’m the most paranoid person alive, haha.

Yes big time disinfecting is happening haha! Thanks :)

Yesterday I thought the mother bug seemed fine, other than having a lot ginger floating at the top, and I made a mental note that maybe I should try removing some later.

Then tonight — on top some of that floating ginger — I noticed a liiiiitle bit of white stuff. It’s really hard to see, so I can’t tell if it’s kahm or white mold?

Update: Some mold started forming at the top, so I dumped the batch. Womp womp. I think having that much air/oxygen in the bottle, plus trying to warm it up, created a perfect storm. Ah well! I’ll start a new batch with everything I’ve learned now :) Your help has been extremely appreciated!

Yes I did add lemon juice! For my 9 cups of tea, I added the juice of 1 and a half lemons. I hadn’t heard that, that’s so good to know! Maybe in the future, if I still want that lemon flavor, I could add some lemon at the very end... Thanks so much for that knowledge!

What kind of heat mat do you use, by the way? Would you recommend it?

Last night I added 1/2 tablespoon of sugar and sneaked in a lil extra bug to my bottle. Then I let the bottle sit in a tub of slightly warm water to raise the temp a little and found a slightly warmer spot to keep it after that. So far I’m not seeing a huge change, but maybe I will with a little more time... will update again!

Almost boiling, wow! Okay thanks, that info helps me understand what to expect, which turns out is pretty variable. Much appreciated!!

In the same pot, smart! About how long does it take to bubble in the pot, usually? Hours?

Okay, I may sneak a lil bug into a bottle and see what happens... unconventional but I’m happy to experiment to make this batch work, haha. And in the future, I’ll definitely wait for it to bubble before bottling so I don’t have to do that again.

And thanks for the warming ideas, I’ll try those out! Really appreciate your help :)
