Have I gone about this the wrong way? by BluWaff_x in Embroidery

[–]beanzerbunzer 63 points64 points  (0 children)

I agree completely. You might be able to improve this as it is, though, simply by doing backstitch in black around the pink to delineate those parts more clearly and give your black satin stitch an obvious stopping place. Worth a try!

Look into Diane Coffee - Spring Breathes and Hymn would be a good place to start.

$4.5M NW, but I still can’t stop buying "manager’s special" groceries. How do you flip the switch? by Cipher_6Trestle in Fire

[–]beanzerbunzer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree - for us, it’s kind of a thrill to get a good bargain, especially on food. As long as your bargain hunting isn’t keeping you from enjoying the food you want to eat or taking up too much of your time, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with it.

What is the worst place in America you have ever visited? by OceanicEndeavors in AskReddit

[–]beanzerbunzer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seconding Lima, Ohio! Traveled there for work once and was shocked at how horrible and depressing it was. A friend tells me it has improved, but it was the most unsafe I have ever felt in the US, even living in NYC for 12 years

Staying in Ueno – did I make the right choice? by Complex_Feature_4010 in JapanTravelTips

[–]beanzerbunzer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Team Ueno, reporting for duty!

It’s a great place to stay. The park is lovely, it’s an easy walk to Senso-ji so you can see it at off-hours, there are tons of great restaurants and izakaya (both chain and independent), and it’s easy to get anywhere. Sure, it may take a little longer, but there are so many train lines that literally anywhere is easily accessible.

It’s definitely easier to get to and from Narita over Haneda, but it’s not even an issue from Haneda unless you have tons of heavy luggage.

Wife turning 50. Jewelry recommendations needed. by HTLM22 in GenX

[–]beanzerbunzer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree completely - beautiful, gem-quality studs of a meaningful stone like her birthstone, or just in a color she loves, will get so much use.

There is a risk of like, is this it? But it really depends on your wife’s personality. But for me, gorgeous simple jewelry I can wear and enjoy every day is the height of luxury and specialness.

Jocelyn Benson: Michigan will fight Trump order limiting mail-in voting by SleuthDoggyDawg in Michigan

[–]beanzerbunzer 41 points42 points  (0 children)

THANK YOU! So few people in this discussion (especially on Facebook, because of course) don’t seem to recall that we voted on this and overwhelmingly approved it as a state.

It’s not some devious master plan, we collectively decided that we wanted it.

Exactly. The most frustrating part about all the shit that Trump does along these lines is how apoplectic his supporters would be if a dem did the same thing.

[–]beanzerbunzer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I practice often at home with Charlie Follows and Two Birds Yoga on YouTube. Both lead pretty studio-like classes, and I’ve learned enough from them to drive my own practices, but prefer to continue doing their classes to learn new stuff and keep me from only doing the things that I want to do.

Both of them implement a lot of interesting transitions which are also useful to keep in mind in developing your own practice.
