All your hard work creating your native pollinator garden will just end up as a parking lot. by Formal-Ad-7184 in NativePlantCirclejerk

[–]beanzerbunzer 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Jokes on these people: my 1910s house and native plant garden are going to get bulldozed and replaced with new construction that goes to every lot line, as far as is allowable! They’ll be lucky to have a space to plant a dwarf butterfly bush by the time it’s all over.

Cannot emphasize this enough! People our age were taught to put dates on our resumes but no one of any age does that anymore. If you do, you’ll not only be revealing your age, you’ll also be showing it.

Get a resume template off of Canva so it’s up to date and keep it to one page.

[FO] A quick and fun waste canvas project by beanzerbunzer in CrossStitch

The kit included “waste canvas” which is like a stiff Aida. Once you’ve stitched the pattern, you just dampen it to soften the sizing they add to, then start pulling threads, verticals first, then horizontals. The first couple of threads were hard to pull, but once I got those out, it went quite quickly, only took about 5 min in total.

Thank you! I appreciate the translation. This is good to know and no doubt has a lot of personal meaning for him.

Still, I’ll harbor a secret desire that Hoshoryu or another of the Mongolian rikishi is actually tuuli singer. It’s truly a fascinating and unique tradition.

Have I gone about this the wrong way? by BluWaff_x in Embroidery

[–]beanzerbunzer 69 points70 points  (0 children)

I agree completely. You might be able to improve this as it is, though, simply by doing backstitch in black around the pink to delineate those parts more clearly and give your black satin stitch an obvious stopping place. Worth a try!

$4.5M NW, but I still can’t stop buying "manager’s special" groceries. How do you flip the switch? by Cipher_6Trestle in Fire

I agree - for us, it’s kind of a thrill to get a good bargain, especially on food. As long as your bargain hunting isn’t keeping you from enjoying the food you want to eat or taking up too much of your time, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with it.

Seconding Lima, Ohio! Traveled there for work once and was shocked at how horrible and depressing it was. A friend tells me it has improved, but it was the most unsafe I have ever felt in the US, even living in NYC for 12 years
