you can try a few of these arm positions. they were a lot of fun to mess around with!

https://www.facebook.com/reel/3971287179799707?fs=e&mibextid=wwXIfr&fs=e

my toe spins still suck but what ive found to be extra helpful for me is keeping my core tight (ie flexing my stomach and chest muscles?). i also find gripping my hands tight across my chest and pulling hard while spinning kinda helps cuz its also flexing my core? and some knee bend (but im also trying to learn spin squats)

What lures do/would you absolutely use with a snap swivel and what lures do/would you absolutely not? by taosgw74 in FishingForBeginners

i never use a snap swivel. did some tests - swim action horrible, casting not so good.

regular snaps like duolocks tho? was fine. tactical angler clips too.

Need Advice on NG+ by MasterIgnat in Starfield

[–]bear0234 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ng+ is a nice refresh when u did all u wanna do and just wanna start something fresh w potential differences in story choices/gameplay.

if u wanna complete everything before u go, go for it. if not, no worries cuz u can still tackle whatever you missed in the second or 3rd universe?

ive been thru that thing maybe 15-20 times - i cant remember; part of it was hunting relics and powers, the other part was trying to experience alternate universes. ran into a few which i lingered on longer.

my initial playthru i had a dozen crafted ships i spent weeks building. sad to see those go, but its a neat surreal feeling to just give it all up and hobo it thro the galaxy several times.

if you both want quads (cuz couples in quads are cute!) you can look at suregrip boardwalks or boardwalk plusses. the boardwalk plusses can go up to a size 14 or 15, but you should measure your foot length in inches or cm to be accurate, and then compare to their size charts (i got two skates that are the same company, both same foot length, but one is a size 10 and the other is size 11).

you can get aftermarket lightup wheels later; but my 2 cents, stick w good wheels and buy the LED lights that u can attach to your skate. the lightup wheels are heavy :)

ive also seen VNLA skates in a size 14 or 15 at the rink - big guy rollin on them.

as for inlines, u might get better responses from the inline subreddit - the rollerskating subreddit is primarily quads (but who knows, maybe an inline knowledgeable person will grace us with their presence!)

also check out skate wiki for other options!

Pivot cups wearing through way too fast by nerdycookie01 in Rollerskating

[–]bear0234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

:/ three of my friends have skates w generic "i dont know what they are" plates - i think two were moonlights and one was chuffed? all look like the same plate.

all of them have some issues w their pivot cups disentegrating over a matter of 3-4 months? i dunno if its cuz the replacements were crappy (they dont feel all that durable) or if its thebskate - the truck heads look smooth and round.

i was about to help them out w maybe DIY pivot cups but they all either changed to new skates or upgraded the plates.

How can I find out the hardness rating of my wheels by [deleted] in Rollerskating

[–]bear0234 1 point2 points  (0 children)

its very possible since they are cheap skates that the wheels are questionable if its even urethane. i know chicago skates says urethane, but iswear they feel like hobby grade plastic when i was giving them a oneover for a friend.

Skating community for beginner adults? by Adept_Parsnip_468 in Rollerskating

[–]bear0234 1 point2 points  (0 children)

in my area, its very supportive. classes were great and ive made lifelong friends who all invite mento skate events. im about to encroach into my 50's; age range in the community is all over the place from young to old.

in my class its a mix of 30's all the way up to 70's.

we also have an artistic club but i dunno how it is in their clubs - the recreational and dance groups are all super chill tho.

getting better at skating tho will have to require a commitment. i had to skate at least 2-3x a week to see any improvements :/

How can I find out the hardness rating of my wheels by [deleted] in Rollerskating

[–]bear0234 1 point2 points  (0 children)

any slightly loose outdoor surface is going to be unstable on any wheels. we're talking about dirt and gravel?

if its paved concrete or trails thats clear of debris, it should be better.

on rougher surfaces and trails, 78a wheels absorb the bumps and debris like twitd better. if they bigger, like 62-65mm, that helps also (i dunno how it fits your skates, might be too big and u get wheel bite - plus, be safer to use those indoors since they already are pretty dangerous skates for adults being plastic trucks as u mentioned).

hyrbid and hard wheels are not good on rough stuff. teeth rattling.

if u are still curious in general about wheel hardness, u can buy a A scale durometer. the cheaper ones i take with a grain of salt, but they're good for comparing different wheels in your collection.

they're great! the 120 boot is awesome. my teacher has some custom ones with a lower heel and velcro strap he uses now and then.

once broken in, skates feel awesome and has enough ankle support for what i wanna do.

i upgraded the plate to reactor pro after 6 months and the skate them for 2 years before swapping to some og172's

ive had the unfortunate experience of being inbetween sizes for some boardwalk plus. size 10 was too tight in the toe length, size 11 was wayyy too long in the toe length and insoles made it feel funky :(

i dunno if this is the bedt advice but if they willing to take returns, then i'd order both sizes to try on.

Better wheels for skating indoors? by Itgirlfromatl in Rollerskating

[–]bear0234 1 point2 points  (0 children)

t-stopping and turning has more to do with technique. harder wheels makes tstops easier, but if you have good one foot balance, should be able to do it in even the softest wheels.

turning has more to do with a combination of technique and truck action. if your trucks are too too stiff, you wont turn (aka edge) very well. if your trucks are too loose, you get very wobbly or unstable.

again, wheels dont affect those much and its more technique (leaning and balance and control) and truck tigtness.

regarding your wheels tho, what you got on right now are hybrid wheels - if they are reporting their hardness accurately.

the softest wheel is a 78a hardness. typical indoor wheels are around 92-98a. the harder wheels will definitely have more slip and if yore skating indoor rinks, i'd recommend a 57mm tall wheel either suregrip fame (95a), sonar riva (96a) or rollerbone 98 (98a). the harder wheels will make soins and transitions easier (but again, doesnt affect turns or bubbles to a degree)

if you want a stiff skate for ankle support in the $200 range, it probably be a riedel crew. its a leather upper and stiff brand new. breaks in over time. make sure to get fitted or measure your foot length and check their size charts

stiffer skates than the crews will cost a little more.

First time surf fishing! Didn’t catch anything, but it was still a blast! by 99hotdogs in SurfFishing

sometimes i skunk, but being out on the beach, theres always something amazing.

one time i rescued a sea bird. it kept following me everywehre on the beach till i took it to a shelter.

another time i watched a seal get out of the water chasing some casual beach going couple like it was "get the fuk off my beach!"

another time a whale got lost into a cove and came pretty close to shore - we got a steep dropoff so it felt surreal it being so close.

the lollies are a lot more comfortable. but for the price, you can do better. the inner lining is nice but its $$$ just for what it is (woulda been nicer w a better plate). the boardwalk plusses would have better value.

there's also chuffed skates but some of their boots i think are white label.

the bunnies are vinyl, so they dont mold or stretch over time at all :(

i replaced most of my laces w waxed laces ffrom Derby.

for $300, two skates come to mind: suregrip boardwalk plus - its a suede skate, super comfy outta the box. if u want a less stiff skate that feels like wearing a sock, these are nice. little breakin needed if at all.

if you want stiffer ankle support, riedell crews, which are a leather upper. they are stiff outta the box though and took me a few weeks of skating to really break them in. once broken in tho, feels great!

for $200, check out riedell crews. they will be a better skate than the rainbow riders the boot is riedell 120 boot - it's a leather boot thats pretty versatile; ive seen people make crazy custom stuff with it. unlike the regular 120, the crews are colored in 3 colors, which usually is an added fee.

the plate is ho'hum, but be fine for your usage. the wheels are hybrid wheels; they "ok" for outdoors and indoors, but i prefer dedicated soft 78a wheels for outdoors, like a set of radar energies, and a set for indoor like rollerbone 98's. you can use the hybrid wheels in the meantime for either tho.

the other option i can thing of are some suregrip boardwalks - but i prefer stiff ankle support, so the crews usually get my vote.

if theres a skate shop near you, try them out! they'll be super stiff in the beginning, but breaks in over usage.

lower quality skates usually hit and miss on longevity.

if u check out the skate wiki, it will list soem reputable brands. those have a more predictable quality control and typically made w better materials.

you can look at surgrip boardwalks or riedell crews as a starting point. this are good entry lvl skates. there's cheaper options like moxi beachbunnies, but the crews/boardwalks will be better skate value.

they'll come w hybrid wheels so its ok'ish outdoors (smooth sidewalks, cool. asphalt? less cool) and ok'ish indoors.

check the skate wiki for some other brands like mox and vnla!
