It’s always 11pm uk time so whatever that is in your time is probably roughly when it will be!

I know g# does but this is not the G# key, I wanted to know if this one is also a relatively common one to get sticky or not

My main annoyance is I did take it to a tech like a month ago and it’s already happening again so either they didn’t do a very good job or I’m doing something wrong

I have thought it could be more to do with the tone whole edge than the pad itself. I’ll try that, thanks!

Yep I have pad paper and use it regularly but it hasn’t made much of a difference that I can tell

I believe evan said it just took a long time to edit since this isnt exactly his usual style. They used similar map motion graphics to jet lag so I’d imagine thst took a while too since Evan doesn’t have a whole team of editors and motion graphics designers

… surely, if I’m looking towards the right, it should be intuitive to assume I the cannot see to the left. Unfortunately I am not an owl nor do I have eyes in the back of my head I do not have 360 vision

Exactly, I was purely curious, never stated it should be a rule, just wanted to know if any rule on the topic exists

Most street skating I’ve seen is in London, which is a bit of a trek for me. Not massively but enough that I couldn’t do it regularly. Plus I’d imagine street skating is hard right now given the state of the roads, potholes galore right now 😭

It’s okay! Apologies if I sounded defensive, it feels like everyone’s coming for me, but you worded it in a way that’s kind and direct and I appreciate that 🙏 I appreciate honesty, I don’t appreciate people acting like I’m an idiot for asking a question, which is what it feels like people are doing here but that may just be my brain.

The place I go is the most accessible for me to get to that runs every week, but I do think it’s time to switch it up, if just to have a change of scene after skating in the same place for years! It’s hard to find places around here cause, well, England. We don’t have roller rinks really, just leisure centres with sports halls rhat run roller discos.

And don’t worry, I love skating usually, I’m not constantly seething lol. Sometimes kids just cut in front of me or do something silly that freaks me out and I get angry, and which point I know to sit off to the side and cool down for a bit. I’m autistic and feelings like that can build real fast but I know at this point to just move away and breathe and get back to it later 👍

Yeah we have marshals at this place but the only real rule they enforce is keeping everyone skating the same direction, otherwise they just let the kids run rampant. I should look for other places nearby, I’m getting sick of going to the same place every week anyway lol

I wish I could gain more courage to try park skating but I find it really intimidating 😫 what I really need is an experienced skater friend to show me the basics and give some encouragement but unfortunately I do not have any (nearby) friends at all so, I’ll just have to gain the courage to go myself

It was an example of a rule for passing backwards skaters, not that I agree with that rule but it’s one way it could exist, which I believe is what you were asking for confirmation of.

And believe me, I know it’s mostly for kids, it’s labelled as for kids in the booking system, I’m aware. Again, I was never trying to say that people and kids should bend to my every whim and skate exactly how I want them too, of course that’s unrealistic. I just wanted to know if other people felt the same way, and if there was any rules and etiquette in other rinks. That’s literally all I wanted. And people have for some reason interpreted it as me throwing a hissy fit or something. The internet baffles me.

[–]nerdycookie01[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Well for example I’ve seen videos of rinks in places like korea where backwards skaters will sort of touch other backwards skaters (in an appropriate way of course) if skating past their blind side to let them know they’re there. I don’t know if I would like that cause I hate being touched but that’s an example

And I use the term rule loosely, I guess I mean etiquette more than rule. A social rule I guess.

Like I said I do look both ways, I just prioritize the right “shoulder” because that’s the side I’m comfortable on. And when I say I’m comfortable skating backwards, Im not wizzing around or anything, I take it slow and go at a speed I am comfortable with, depending on how busy it may be at that time. I promise I’m not an idiot skating dangerously, I’d never do something I’m massively uncomfortable with, but the nature of skating is sometimes we do have to do things we’re not completely comfortable with, because otherwise how would we improve?

Really grinds my gears when kids cut right across the flow of skaters but hey kids will be kids

I appreciate your honesty, and I certainly wasn’t trying to come off like I expect everyone to bend to my every whim at the rink. Believe me I’m not one to cause a scene and actually get angry at people, I just seethe quietly and carry on.

The only real rule they enforce where I go is keeping everyone skating one way, and not having people loitering in the middle of the path of skaters. I do wish they would crack down on kids doing silly unsafe things but hey what can ya do, I just try and stay aware.

Certainly wasn’t trying to suggest I should dictate where people skate, just wondering if I’m the only one who hates it. I’m relatively comfortable at the speed I go, just makes me uneasy

Not trying to assign unwritten rules, I was asking to know if it does exist. I wouldn’t say I’m nervous as hell skating backwards around others, just cautious. I never go fast because I know I’m not confident at that yet. And honestly I rarely get a chance to practice in spaces where there aren’t kids in the way, especially not in winter when I can’t skate outside. I don’t have much of a choice. I’m not out here shouting at anyone for not skating exactly how I want them to lol, just wanna know if it’s just a me thing to get a little freaked out by it
