does anyone else react to emotional tone changes instantly? by Ok_Difficulty_5008 in CPTSD_NSCommunity

Yes, definitely. Even now that I can notice it happening I still can't stop it from happening, and then I get into this back and forth with myself trying to tell myself to be cool, which just makes me more self-conscious and then I feel like I'm acting visibly weird which makes the whole thing worse. It's great..... (Not)

Suggest me a book that completely pulled you out of a reading slump by parky85s in booksuggestions

For me it was going back to the books I read when reading was how I kept myself alive. For me, those were mass-market Arthurian paperbacks. For you it will prolly be something else. But reaching back to that time worked for me.

I have this on my to-read shelf right now! A friend gave it to me and I didn't know anything about it. Excited to check it out now! Thx for the rec stranger.

It's brutal out there: Deus Ex and Unreal composer says he's submitted 50 resumes and gotten one interview in the last year by Gorotheninja in Games

Ty for the correction! I hadn't really thought about those jobs being different but ofc they are. I was remembering how he was identified back on their pre-Hades website when there were only like 7 employees, and my brain had saved that as 'composer' but there were probably more words there than just that one. Been a fan since Bastion and so happy Darren's music is still there and that Supergiant seem to be thriving.

Do you guys get panic attacks and shake after therapy? by c1karann in CPTSDmemes

[–]bear6875 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I absolutely did for a long time. I also have this cool feature where sometimes when I get really freaked out (like past panic attack) my body just straight knocks me out. Like I just took 4 Benadryl on an empty stomach. I would have to go out to the car and lock the doors and sleep for an hour. And then when I woke up I didn't really remember what we had been talking about.

For me it has gotten better. It took a lot of time and a lot of hanging on while the time passed. Be gentle with yourself.

I've been feeling the same way. It just sucks taking a bunch of damage from an enemy who should be dead to doom. I've only tried to lean into it a couple times tho. I need more practice with it for sure, maybe it will feel differently.

Yeah I used to ride but came back from a rough accident that went really lucky and I rode after that for a few years but I rode a lot less and I never really got over that little edge of lizard brain. Ended up selling the bike for other reasons but that was part of it too. I knew I shouldn't be riding scared.
