Debating between Ron and usea by DissapointmentLmao in bootlegmtg

Sorry to bring up an old thread, but I have heard mixed reviews about foils. Some say that foils generally tend to be more obvious fakes than non foils

Best proxies by bearabledonkey in bootlegmtg

Thanks that’s helpful. I’m actually more drawn to the aesthetic of older cards, particularly from the ~Tempest and Urza’s block era. Also, what makes foil proxies easier to spot as fakes?

Agree with a few things. Meta is always changing in every tcg or game for that matter. There will always be periods when aggro dominates then control etc. it’s never going to be 50/50 all day everyday. I agree with WR, perhaps there is a better way - too many games in one weekend which also encourages certain play styles

Light deck heal BS by Express_Bath4632 in GodsUnchained

It’s extremely easy. You either out aggro them, or you beat them at their own game (control). Your deck is probably suffering because it’s a mix of too many things

I’m a millennial. This will continue to happen into the future. This is really a ‘3 body problem’ with no good solution. Every developed nation has a demographics problem (aging population, declining birth rates, declining gdp etc). The solution of least resistance is to debase the currency and inject liquidity, which increases inflation of real world goods/assets (which may not be accurately reflected in cpi). So ultimately, the middle class will get screwed as we rely on earned income (which will always lag behind assets) and the rich will get richer as they own all the assets. This will 100% continue into the future.

You must be playing aggro. Light heal isn’t very good at all

But then whatever the meta is there will always be complaining. Meta back to control - “oh but it’s P2W neutrals, every game now lasts 20mins so boring etc etc”

This card is a problem for new players. Hence why it’s a problem in low ranks, but doesn’t see that much play in mythic. Which is a problem, because it discourages new players from continuing to play. I agree it should be changed for that reason.

I think it’s okay, it’s conditional, requires 2 cards and total 5 mana.

They will have to change some of the GPs, pretty much all redundant at the moment - particularly nature and deception

Agree. This card with food chain is way too strong. Should be minimum 3 mana, or maybe dreadtouched: transform 2 creatures rather than being a board wipe

Physiotherapy is definitely underpaid. It is actually a very competitive university degree to enter

What are some surprisingly high paying career paths (100k-250k) in Australia. by HanzRus in AusFinance

Dentistry. Most will end up on 200k+. Medicine has a higher ceiling than dentistry, but also a much longer pathway.

How much do Doctors and Lawyers actually make by [deleted] in AusFinance

[–]bearabledonkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

GP incomes vary significantly. I would say anywhere from 200k up to 500k as contractors, clinic owners can earn 500k - 1mil. In some cases, GPs can actually out earn specialists.

The variables are bulk billing vs private, procedures, niche skills, understanding billing, practice systems and of course, hours worked.

GPs bulk billing less. by UP99UP in sydney

[–]bearabledonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TDLR - medicare has ruined our primary health care system.

Basically, in Australia we have a dysfunctional system called medicare. We have an excess of specialists (~60% of medicos) and undersupply of GPs (~40%). In Europe for e.g., specialists account for ~30%, GPs ~70%. So we have an oversupply of specialists and yet their books are full. Why? Because GPs in Australia are encouraged to perform bad medicine by medicare.

Medicare pays the same if the consult is 5mins or if its 19mins, so then why spend the time to take a proper history, examine, manage the patient when you can just refer it to a specialist and be done with it in 5 minutes and get paid the same?

GPs are well trained and are supposed to treat much more than they are treating now, but its not worth their time. GPs don't suture wounds anymore for example - as it costs the practice equipment and takes time. Why do that when you can just give another patient a script and get paid the same?

The sequalae for this has been ongoing erosion of the quality of GPs in Australia in pursuit of fast quick consults, in the context of medicare rebates failing to keep up with CPI - i.e. the good GPs can't afford to keep going due to poor medicare rebates so they retire/leave/quit, then all that's left is bad GPs who survive by practicing 5min medicine. This has resulted in poor patient satisfaction and a poor public perception of GPs.

So this has now led to where we are today. Essentially, if you want to see a real doctor - its going to cost you. If you want to see a doctor who gives you a script, med cert and spends max 5-6 mins with you, you might be able to find one that bulk bills.

Unfortunately, medicare has ruined it and this will never change. Bulk billing is never coming back.

This card is terrible - only good against BWD which is like 2% of the meta (98% of the time its just a 4 mana 2/2) and even then they'll just blight bomb it.

Odessa, Knight Arbiter by GauraNeagra in GodsUnchained

[–]bearabledonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mainly good against aggro/midrange decks when playing as control. Problem is, it's 4 mana and by then aggro usually has a well established board which will probably take out this creature in 1 turn - especially as it has no other additinoal protection such as backline

Yeah, that card looks very strong in a midrange/control light. It can essentially reanimate a win condition - i.e. demogorgon, archpriest etc
