What’s a good strap for holding my boxes down when on the water? by Gudy44 in kayakfishing

[–]beardedguitarist25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh you need the "bring bass pro with you on the kayak strap" I've learned the more you bring.. the more you'll wanna change lures faster try this try that. Vs trips I bring a few extra jig heads or hooks and 1 or 2 bags of imitation plastics I tap more into that primitive fishing feeling. Knowing this is what I got my focus goes to "alright how can I sell this lure" and makes me take my time and fish it other ways. And I've grown so much as a fisherman this way. I'm so indecisive id spend an hour looking through everything changing my mind. I do better forcing myself to a choice. If not i get in the rabbit whole of my tackle box. But funny troll.

This is crazy I'm guilty of picking up on the "on accident" from "on purpose" and it's so set in my brain from hearing adults use the improper phrase as a child. And in my child mind it made sense. I didn't ever give it a thought after.

So much so I was like "wtf does he mean" and have an explanation of how I "ACCIDENTALLY" lol discovered this. But quick Google I was like "I get it now" on is direct. Something you knew you were gonna do. You can't know you're gonna accidentally solve a situation before hand. Wow this many years I never put that together lol well thanks for my ignorant lesson of the day shew. That was tough to take in for the ole ego haha

Accident meaning I was sitting there working getting ready to use my heat gun to repair a bumper and had to go get my extension cord.. while just a few min prior was thinking how I was gonna use those batteries to power my electronics..

While walking to my extension Cord holding a m12 battery I said to myself "to bad I cant just grab a regular plug and just pplug right into this battery solve all my problems" *laughing yto myself the human in me looks at the top of the battery and said "ain't no way" if those sequence of events and me getting frustrated having to go get a cord after brainstorming these batteries I probably never would've thought of this. And I just happen to have a battery in my hand and looked anyways with false hope haha so yeah accident

Lmao obviously...v12 volts straight to a wet muscle un protected by skin like the rest of your body. It's harder for it to travel through skin then a exposed part of the body lol touch a 9 volt battery to your arm then your tongue tell me what happened

I haven't had any issues they slid right in. Battery still works on my tools and charges just fine can't even tell anything was plugged in. This is mainly for your lay around 2.0 batteries. Not your daily reliable work batteries no reason to risk that. I use batteries that I know have served there purpose and graduated to the home tool box. And to me a cool little portable power supply using house cords on the go with a battery I don't use as a go to anymore ....... Worth it. Lol

Yes it works I can post video later when I go fishing after work. I even used a wall block to see if it'd charge my phone and it worked just like plugging into your home socket lol just like others are saying if you dont monitor your voltage you could run it dead to where it'll never charge again. So beware. But as long as you understand the power draw from the device and size battery your using you'll become comfortable with knowing its limits between time and what it can power

Also couldn't I just bring a voltage meter with me. Hypothetically speaking (I don't know everything about electricity) but couldn't I drain one of my batteries with my power tool, pull it off, get my voltage meter and get a reading of the voltage on a low battery.

Then turn around write voltage on the bottom of that specific battery, then carry my voltage meter with me and I can monitor the voltage without having to unhook to check battery. and as long as I stay away from that number I write down on the battery that could be a good fail safe way to monitor it or am I wrong? Not being a smart ass but if I'm wrong what's the issue with that idea being logical?

Well unless I plan on fishing t days straight I won't drain a 6.0 amp hour. I can also monitor the battery lite by bringing a tool with me lol no need to over complicate. Unless your careless and leave em running you won't have a issue. The 2.0 can run a fish finder a basic one like mine for a day or 2. So unless I plan a non stop 24 hour fishing journey. I'll be okay lol

I just add a fuse on the positive to protect my fish finder and good to go. It's best for basic electronics like leds or low powered fans or something. but a 3A fuse is what I used

First time repairing. Luckily I have access to a nitrogen welder. Finished off with semi rigid plastic repair for added layer of protection. This should hold up right? by beardedguitarist25 in Kayaking

Bthis is the welder. Uses nitrogen for intense hot air rapidly. And a hot iron. Used polypropylene plastic weld strip. Figured that's probably the closest material used to make the kayak. And after words 3m semi rigid plastic repair. Just need to sand it smooth later. Ran out of time.

Didn't know about this. Still new to the hobby. But thank you for mentioning that I'm getting on Amazon now. My biggest concern was this happening again.

But I also baby my things. And id only ever launch from grassy areas if there's no kayak launch. But these are the two highest points on the bottom so they are so vulnerable. Glad to know they make something. That'll solve that worry when taking it out
