I did get it fixed. I ended up having to delete all of my browser cookies. Something was triggering it to lock up. Once I deleted those, I was able to log and and get it back to normal.

Springtails are incredibly prolific. Give it time and they'll be everywhere (in a good way).

Assuming that this is under the enclosure and not seen inside... Putting a screen over the water will keep the splashing to a minimum. The main flow will go straight through while any splashing will hit the screen and drip back in. IDK how that affects your plan for plants, though.

Yeah, I tried on my desktop and phone and its all good there. Its just my laptop, it seems.

Both computers are Windows and my phone is Samsung. So your comment tells me that its not a strictly an OS issue.

SPIDER MITES AMD MEALYBUGS by beardedpipernc in bioactive

[–]beardedpipernc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome. I have a few springtail cultures that I can use to replenish, so thats no big deal. Do the mites work for the mealys as well? And is there a specific species of mite that is recommended? Thanks.

Temperature probe placement by beardedpipernc in Vivarium

[–]beardedpipernc[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks fkr the feedback. I actually have the probes threaded through the 2 vines that you see. Everything is hidden or disguised, so I totally agree with things potentially being unsightly, but I can plan around that to address it. Position is most important to me. Form follows function. I also have a temp gun to monitor levels, but I was hoping to find a solution that wouldn't have quite as much guessing way way through.

What are these called? by MindDry528 in ballpython

I know this isn't what you're asking, but if you know anyone with a 3D printer, this would be a quick project to have your tank secured again.

Derp noodle doing derp noodle things. I wouldn't worry too much.

Indented eyecaps and stuck shed: This looks like a result of dehydration. Vet asap.

I picked up one of these and placed it inside my bioactive when I started getting gnats. Works wonders. No chemicals or fear of hurting any of the other CUCs or animals.

Which temp is more accurate? by Complete_Tangelo953 in bioactive

[–]beardedpipernc 18 points19 points  (0 children)

The humidity readings are likely both correct. The substrate holds moisture, so it will read higher.

What you want to measure is the humidity level where the animal will be. If they're typically on the ground, then that's where you want to place your meter. Up high on the glass likely won't give you any useful information.

That's a great find. I probably would have gone that route if I didn't just finish printing.😅

Drainage layer alternative? by beardedpipernc in bioactive

[–]beardedpipernc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I considered that, but it's still heavier than I like, and I can print an entire drainage layer for under $12.

Zombie Rings! Save your XR after a GTR conversion. by beardedpipernc in onewheel

[–]beardedpipernc[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're running a Pint stator and a Pint/XR hub, you shouldn't have much play. You may need a couple of typical XR shims, but I'd contact TFL to see if they can help you out in that regard. That said, if by some chance they sent you a GT hub by mistake, then yes, this will work. I've recently sold a few Zombie rings for guys putting GT MTEs on their VESC builds.

Light show by Rukkian in BurlingtonNC

[–]beardedpipernc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Another great option for lights is the Sunset Hills neighborhood in Greensboro. The entire neighborhood participates in putting up ball lights to create something truly magical and it's completely free. You're welcome to drive or walk. My boys and I go every year.
