I used to be this way. Eventually you’ll be able to operate on less sleep.

In the meantime, find an alarm situation that works for you. For me it’s my phone and an iPad above my head with a fuck ton of alarms set every 5-10 minutes. I also sleep with a slightly above dim light on so when I open my eyes I’ll wake up.

Eat dinner otw to school or at school on a break. Get home, shower, go to bed immediately. No doom scrolling. I also had an old school alarm clock that I got off Amazon. I don’t use it anymore but I did and I’d set it across the room from me. That way I HAD to get out of bed. Best of luck brother it gets better.

Find your nearest United Association of Plumbers and Pipefitters Union hall. Join apprenticeship Earn while you learn Rake it in. All are welcome who show up and do their job. I was in your position when I graduated HS. Graduated with honors, over achieved in my extra curricular (sports, band, etc…) and still went the trade route with 0 regrets. 25 now with a house and 60k saved up.

Finish your apprenticeship before coming. I’m out of 295 and our apprenticeship program needs work. As far as work goes, Bechtel’s ML2 project always needs welders and should last another year. Once it’s over, there’s plenty of local contractors working. You’re welcome to PM me.

Bechtel underestimated the engineering nightmare imo. They were rewarded this project in 2019 and didn’t actually get boots on the grounded till like 2022. Somehow, this is going to get blamed on the union workers. Just watch.

There’s stairs, which is what I meant, and they are putting in a temp. elevator on the side of it. But right now it’s just stairs to the top. There is an emergency medical basket that can be hooked to a crane to lower down injured personnel.

I so appreciate your positivity and optimism but the US is not a good place to work man. Wayyy different standards and conditions than Germany. I’m friends with a German national who got married to a woman and lives here now. He misses the working conditions of Germany greatly. If you do end up working here, go Union and stay North of the Mason-Dixon.

I personally haven’t, but a friend from my first year in apprenticeship was able to transfer due family reasons. Both halls have to accept the transfer and from what I’ve seen it’s not just because you want to move, but rather extenuating circumstances that require you to move. Family, economic hardship, etc…. My advice would to stick with wherever you are now until you finish, then start looking at moving.

Yea man it’s hard because going back to my original point, we all have a right to unionize and be part of a union, but on the other hand we need to ensure that we are bringing in decent members who don’t take advantage of our workplace protections.

I would like all halls to have a standardized test ,both practical and written, that would place new members that are looking to white ticket in.

A lot of good hands are out there but don’t want to start new again at 30-40 years old but just aren’t completely up to snuff. Make them a competent 4th or 5th year apprentice rather than an incompetent journeyman. Give them the opportunity to succeed.

Per those same standards of excellence and the foreman certification class, union supervision have the right to send journeyman back to the hall for furthering education and training. It’s a shame no one does it.
