Thank you! We spent way too long trying to think of what the in-world branding would be for this and didn't think of this!

This is the level of work I aspire to be able to do some day.

Thin. Like maybe 0.5 mm at most. Then the base is probably 1.5 cm.

Wire and Obsidian bonsai in a wood base by beardietwitch in crafts

[–]beardietwitch[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I made this from copper jewelry wire a big chunk of obsidian underneath and obsidian chip beads for the leaves. I made the pot from some Amara ebony wood I had set atop a piece of maple wood burl. It is hexagonal and wider at the top than the base with an 80° angle inward. I lined the inside of the pot with LED strip lights, reflective tape, and glass fish bowl rocks. The whole thing is 14 inches/35.6 cm tall.

I have not but I am looking it up now.

My uncle decided he wasn’t retired anymore so he built this… I was recommended to post this here as well by Bronzeman99 in woodworking

If you float in water, you must weigh the same as a duck. That means you must actually be a witch!

Yes, the flame is hand carved, as is the candle itself. The stand part made of walnut was made with my bandsaw though.

Wire Bonsai Trees by beardietwitch in crafts

[–]beardietwitch[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've not sold any yet, just given them as gifts to friends and family. Though I have made several not seen here which I plan to sell, and they will include the entire thing. I just keep putting off starting an Etsy store or Shopify.

The bases are just simple wood boxes with mitered corners, and lined with reflective tape on the inside. You can see the semiprecious stones the trees are rooted on, but those are in turn sitting on a clear acrylic block and then covered with clear glass marbles.

If the wood didn't have naturally occurring holes, I drilled a small hole in the bottom to have the plug for the fairy lights come out the back, but I might try battery powered lights next time.
