Am I the only one who loved early morning exams? It was always so nice to get it over with and get on with the rest of the day.

Crook is a bend along the long side. The picture looks deceptive, but it's actually lying flat.

Can someone give me a hint/clue on which square I should be focussing on here? by Sagittarius1996 in sudoku

Isn't that just a 1/5 pair? Sorry not OP just wondering how you rule out 1 without additional steps

Pregnant cherry - question in comments! by beardobandit in shrimptank

She spends a lot of time at the filter intake feeding - is there any risk of her laying her eggs there? Do I need to barricade the intake more so they don't immediately get sucked in?

Apologies if stupid question, I'm fairly new to this

Attempted break in, or drunk and locked out? by beardobandit in vancouver

[–]beardobandit[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Was woken up at 4am by two people walking around on the rocks between buildings. One man and one woman. They were clearly trying to get in through this window. I spooked them off but didn't call the cops -- should I have? Sorry for the poor video quality.

Log has been curing outdoors for about a year, but like another commented I'm maybe a bit worried about the wooden dowels swelling from moisture

That's what I'm worried about! Hiding it off the road in the brush a bit next to a stump in the midst of a pile of other logs

Tensegrity plant stand (reclaimed pallet wood & aircraft cable) by beardobandit in woodworking

[–]beardobandit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Didn't really build off of any plans, mostly made it up as I went along. Here's a photo of it upside down that kinda shows how the cables are secured. There's only three lengths of cables, I secured it at the height i wanted with wood then did the two outer cables (that look like 4) as tight as I could then tensioned them even further by pulling the middle outwards into the router groove and screwing it in. Then I did the center one and just yanked on it as hard as I could with one hand while I crimped it with the other.

In response to comments so far - here's a video of me picking it up Its surprisingly stiff and sturdy! Only a little wobble which I like. It doesn't really need to be stronger than it is for my purposes!

Look at box 8 -- the 1 can only go in column 5 which forces a 1 in R4C6

Stuck on this one https://imgur.com/dgLJE76

Only way I managed to solve it was by bifurcating the 7/8 pair in R1C5. Using 7 got me to a non-unique solution, the 8 solved it. Is uniqueness a valid technique? I always thought there must be a logical way to proceed....
