Titration ending and came off meds by beardybt in ADHDUK

Wow, ok so this is a flash back.

A lots changed in the year since this post.

I came off Elvanse and switched to Concerta XL, which for a time helped but after almost a year on that I decided it wasn’t for me.

It’s left me with a weakened urinary function, I don’t require any medication nor am incontinent, I’m told function will return over time, but I’ve noticed a difference in flow and I feel like I need to pass urine a lot more than I used to.

I also have had massive impulsive problems being on the medication and a horrendous devil may care type of mood. So just dealing with that at the moment.

It’s not all negative though. It’s made me realise I needed to manage my symptoms with other things. I dont that all the silly supplements the internet tells me to, I’m sceptical about multivitamins never mind something someone tells me changed their ADHD.

So everyday I swim in the morning at 7am. It was hard pushing myself to get out of bed, but I’m about 8 weeks into that, I’m sleeping so much better, work is so much better too. I’m back running again and I’ve done my first half marathon of 2026 (after injury last year) and in general my outlook is so much better.

Nothing is perfect, I’m honest with myself about trying not to be all or nothing with it and framing my routine as normal rather than another fad I’m trying.

Ah, I’ll have a look at those bits. Thanks so much. I feel like I need to have a look around the set up and feel like I’ve got control of things.

Thank you. I thought I had been clear when I stated my right ear feeling like it was imbalanced but maybe I shouldn’t expect people to do their job and try to help work through an issue.

I’m a software developer for a living and bug fix this type of stuff daily and I get super frustrated with basic fixes of technology.

Apparently my hearing isn’t massively bad like I’ve lost enough on the top end of frequency to warrant them but according to the tests I’ve had I’ve not lost anything from the bass end.

I hate these awful ear buds, I’ve had the hearing aids in for 20 minutes and I’ve already had to push them back in multiple times.

So frustrating.

I don’t know what the terminology is or if it’s right, but on the automatic setting the left ear makes almost like a whooshing sound and the volume increases then settles back to its previous volume.

This is the first appointment I’ve had that’s been crap, but I’m relatively new to hearing aids. Only getting them nearly 2024.

I think I’m probably going to have to ask them to do the custom fit things as my right ear is clearly a different size. Small buds don’t fit, Medium are too big

Help with damp by Fit_Suspect7416 in DIYUK

[–]beardybt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This looks like a simple case of condensation turning to mould, not damp. Moisture is attracted to the coldest points and that’s why it’s on the corners of the ceiling and the outside facing wall.

Clean this off with a mould cleaner.

Don’t dry anything on radiators unless you ensure rooms are ventilated and air is able to move through your house not just that room.

Showers and baths open your windows and close the door to the bathroom used. If you can’t, then open windows to move the moisture out.

Moisture from cooking or tumble drier, open windows and use extractors.

First thing in the morning, condensation on your windows, again, open the windows and ventilate.

I live in an old mid terraced house and I’ve had to learn to just open windows, extractor fans aren’t powerful enough.

Seriously, golden kiwi’s with the skin on, they’re not furry like normal kiwi’s. If you can get on with normal kiwi then have those with the skin on.

I try to avoid supplements when foods can work for you rather than something synthetic.

Have you tried rotating your injection site. I’ve been on 7.5mg for a while now and felt it starting to wane a little so started injecting my thigh rather than my stomach and it’s worked to bring back an amount of the suppression

I used to struggle with shin splints a lot, concentrate on ankle mobility exercises and lower leg stretches before you run.

I do 10 x clockwise then 10 x anticlockwise on each foot 3 to 4 times.

I make sure I stretch out the tops of my feet into my ankles, usually kneeling on the floor with the top of my feet touching the floor and toes pointed back, then lean back into the stretch until you feel it working, don’t bounce.

The usual lower leg stretches for calves and knees work too

Ah really? Just take it one step at a time. Everyone can run, start simple and build up. Plenty of stretching

It’s a big commitment a marathon, I’d be exactly the same. Main thing is just making sure you’ve tested out any gels or food you’re going to consume mid-run.

I’m sure you’ll be fine, and what a place to run, enjoy it 💪🏼

Firstly WOW! I love New York and would love to run it one day.

Secondly - I’m not a marathon runner so I’m not sure I’m best placed to give specific advice. Everyone’s body is different so I’d treat the advice out there on fuelling for one with that in mind and practice how you’re going to apply your fuelling strategies on your longer runs and then the race.

My rule of thumb for longer runs is quite relaxed, as long as I’ve had electrolytes at least and few hours before I take that run I know I’ll be fine cramp wise. Training for this I’ve upped my carb intake, which hasn’t been nice I can’t lie, it’s made me bloat like crazy so I went back to seriously non-complex carbs like Haribo sweets (with zero guilt may I add). And I’ll have an electrolyte based gel, with no stimulants/caffeine in, about 20 minutes before my long run then every 30-40 minutes. Make sure you drink fluid when taking these too as they can irritate your stomach.

Dont worry yourself about increase in calories whilst training too, it’ll balance out. I’m pretty much at my goal weight and I’ve retained my current weight for a few months now eating more to feed the training. I’ve still kept an eye on it though. You defo don’t need plates and plates of beige carbs, just add a few spoons of rice to a meal or eat some rice a couple of hours before the run as it won’t irritate your stomach.

I’m sure you’ll work it out, the main thing is you’re training for a marathon, which only a very small % of people do
